Spyker's Fauzy testing at Santa Pod
Spyker's Malaysian test driver Fairuz Fauzy returned to the Formula 1 cockpit today in Santa Pod, UK, to put in a further day's testing for the Etihad Aldar Spyker Formula One Team. In warm, sunny conditions, the Malaysian assisted the team with its aero development programme, the first time Fairuz had been in the F8-VII since the team's four-day test in Paul Ricard back in May.
"It was great to be back in the F1 car," commented Fairuz. "We concentrated on aero development and control systems and had a very productive day. Santa Pod is not really a complete track, but it's quite bumpy, fun and challenging to drive. We didn't have any problems and it was nice to be able to get some more mileage in a Formula One car. I'm looking forward to getting some more time later in the season."
This season, the 24-year-old has also been competing in the Formula World Series by Renault 3.5 series. So far Fairuz has enjoyed some promising results and in the last round of the series at the Hungaroring, secured his best result of the season so far; second place, just half a second behind the winner.
