Montagny hopes to join Champ Car
Franck Montagny, Toyota's former test- and reserve driver, has spent his final season in Formula One in 2007. The popular Frenchman hopes to race in the Champ Car World Series during the upcoming 2008 season.
In an interview with MRC, Montagny said: "There were some opportunities to stay in Formula 1, but I turned them down. I don't want to be a third driver anymore. There are some rule changes and a third driver will hardly get the chance to cover the miles on track."
"Perhaps I can race in Champ Cars next year. There are several options for me there but there is also an option to join a French team in an endurance series."
