BMW hopes to continue successful run at Bahrain

After two successful races in Australia and Malaysia, the BMW Sauber F1 Team is preparing for the third overseas race - the last for the moment: the Bahrain Grand Prix. BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen is hoping that the team's successful run will continue.

After a successful start to the new season, Formula One has earned a short break. However, the thrilling World Championship races in Melbourne and Sepang have given people a thirst for more. On 6th April, at the "Bahrain International Circuit", the Formula One circus moves into the next round.

"I hope that we can continue our successful run and qualify for the first two or three rows on the grid," says Mario Theissen, looking ahead to the race in the desert emirate. "If we manage that, then there is always a good chance of finishing in a podium position."

With two podium finishes and holding second place in the Constructors' Championship, the BMW Sauber F1 Team can be very satisfied with its start to the season. Compared to the winter tests, the BMW Sauber F1.08 has improved dramatically and has significantly reduced the gap to the top two teams. No tests are on the programme before the Bahrain Grand Prix, but the development goes on. "There will not be many new components in Bahrain. We will take a big step in Barcelona. However, there will be a few small modifications for Bahrain," says Theissen.
