Renault Roadshow conquered Moscow
Sunday (28 August) the 2 Renault F1 Team drivers, Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella, demonstrated the unique spectacle of Formula One in the heart of the Russian capital. It was the second time that the Renault Roadshow went to Russia.
Crowds estimated at more than 100.000 gathered beneath the walls of the Kremlin to see the leaders of the 2005 World Championship in action.
Fernando Alonso was very happy to go back to Russia:
"I loved coming back to Moscow – it is a great city, and it was amazing to see so many people along the side of the circuit. The people here have an amazing passion for Formula One, and this
was a mega show for them!"
Team mate Giancarlo Fisichella was impressed by his first visit to the city:
"This was my first time in Moscow, and I was so impressed by it. We saw Red Square, and it was quite a unique way to discover the Kremlin – from a Formula 1 car! I hope we will be coming back here soon."
The Renault F1 Team Grand Prix in Moscow began on the Moskva river, with an aquabike display by the Russian champion, before attention turned to the track. Jean Ragnotti wowed the crowds with the Mégane Trophy and Clio RS, before the F1 drivers took to the track to race specially-prepared Mégane Trophy cars to entertain the spectators. The afternoon ended with the main event: the F1 demonstration with Alonso and Fisico at the wheel. The crowds thrilled tot the noise of the V10 engine as the drivers completed five laps each of the citycentre circuit in the R24.
Renault has experienced another succesful Roadshow, trying to make people interested in the Formula One. The previous one was held in Turkey to help warm Turkish people for the inaugural Turkish F1 race.
