Renault F1 drivers birthday interviews
To celebrate its drivers’ upcoming birthdays, the ING Renault F1 Team has interviewed Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet Jr. and would like to offer you some off-track insight into their personalities.
Fernando Alonso – Birthday: 29 July, 27 years old
My best birthday so far was… I think it was maybe 2 years ago, with the team in Hockenheim. They prepared a video and it was really nice!
My best birthday present I have got so far… when I was a kid, a remote control car that my grandma gave to me. I still remember it so it was a really nice gift!
I am a good guy because...Yes, I am… I respect everybody, I am a nice guy. My dream GP would take place in…Oviedo, my hometown. I’d love to have a GP there.

Which was your most embarrassing moment? At an event, I was doing donuts in a road car and I almost rolled over, I didn’t want to get out of the car to face the public… That’s how embarrassed I was!
Which day will you never forget? I’d like to remember many days. I have lots of very important days in my life. One of them is probably the day I won my first world title in F1.
Which person did influence you the most? My father.
Which goal would you like to achieve in your life? Happiness. I’d like to be happy as it’s not always easy to achieve these days. So I really would like to be happy in my life.
How long do you need in the morning to get ready? 2 minutes… I am very quick!
What is on your iPod? All types of music: dance music when I train, pop, rock… mainly Spanish music though.
Which single item would you take to a remote island? My iPod to listen to some music, can I have more items??? Then my wife, my family, my friends.
What personal strength can you rely on? My self confidence.
Where are you the happiest? On the podium!
The 3 things that you most cherish? My small cars, my big cars… and my remote control cars… My cars basically!
What is your personal motto? Live for the moment!
The word that you overuse the most? Toma! (come on!)
Nelson Piquet – Birthday: 25 July, 23 years old
I would ideally like tocelebrate my birthday in... Brazil with my family.
My best birthday so far was... my 18th in Brazil.
My best birthday present I have got so far was... my first car.
I am a good guy because... I have a big heart.
Before the start of a race I am... excited.
18 races a year is... just the right amount.
My dream GP would take place in... Brasilia, my hometown.
