McLaren's Daniel Ricciardo has won the Italian Grand Prix ahead of team mate Lando Norris. As both title contenders again clashed and retired from the race, Valtteri Bottas had a brilliant recovery to finish third after starting from the back of the pack.
Lap one, exactly the same situation - did Max back off and let Lewis through? No, Lewis bailed to avoid contact. Which is what Max should have done once it was obvious the gap was always going to disappear before he got anywhere near to making the move work.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
Looks like a racing incident like Silverstone and both again making a point of not conceding in decisive situations.
At least this one pays out pain equally to both, in terms of points lost, and the championship stays tight at the top.
You missed the start of the race then?
Yeah, missed the whole race actually. Was planning on catching it on replay but a Google notification spoiled the surprise.
But in any case, aren't incidents evaluated in isolation and not against any larger historical narrative? I think FIA has a bias towards consequence based judgements, but because this came out neutral I guess they don't intervene further.
These two are ruining what would be a good championship fight if not for these crashes. At no point would Max yield which is part of the reason why everybody leaves extra space. He has Sennaesque attitude towards leaving space. And because of this, Hamilton won't back out too.. Whatever happened to race hard and fair like in Alonso/Vet, Ham/Ros, Ham/Vet times

But unlike in Silverstone, it would have been much easier for max to bail out in the chicane.
he got a 5 second penalty in japan 2018 for going off the track in the final chicane and them coming back on and hitting kimi! He could get the same thing here.
Yes but max is on track this time, not off of it.

Pretty obvious this was going to happen. Last time Hamilton kicked Verstappen out of the race, so now he gets payback.
Both of them showing the other they will commit and are not afraid. Good for the show though.
On the incident itself, looks like racing incident to me. Both could have avoided it.
Verstappen got sent towards the kerbs and the sausage kerbs made the incident way worse than it would've been. Racing incident at worst, in my opinion. This idea that Verstappen is the dirtier driver is a bit ridiculous when Hamilton caused a heavy crash by not backing out in a move that wasn't on just four races ago. Both drivers have been absolutely merciless, and this stuff is bound to happen at that point.
''Moral champion'' sounds like pure, unadulterated cope, by the way.

With the Bulls unable to pass...and only the fresh-milled Merc of Bot having the steam to do so. I would have to say advantage Max after today (long way to go though). Glad I am not a steward...gonna get wierd.
Just realised grid penalty a bit pointless for Max as they will just use it to put a new engine in?
Will force them to take it then, where as Horner said this weekend they are not sure when to take it , not with multiple races possibly being cancelled.
