Well that statement from Merc was expected. A fair few of us have gotten quite a bit of flak for showing another point of view.
Hope some can reflect a little bit on how their bias affects the way they converse on this forum. Then maybe like the FIA and F1, we might all have a better time in ‘22.

Merry Xmas all
Mercedes not appealing doesn’t make Masi’s decision the correct one, I would guess it has more to do with politics, similar to Ferrari in 2019.
Also the bias has been very much from both sides, not just the side you disagree with.

Eh? Who said I agreed with Masi’s decision. Think I’ve been fairly clear that a less optimal decision was made.
What bias have I shown? Ive tried to look at what’s occurred as objectively as humanly possible and genuinely had/have no dog in the “fight”.

Slightly disappointed that they didn't stick it to the FIA, but I think they actually did stick it to them - don't work with us and all hell breaks loose, and we'll burn the house down for all we care (not in FIA's best interest). Or, work with us and fix this once and for all. Masi is out I believe, and good riddance. I believe they really will hold the FIA accountable and if the result is not to their liking, they'll pursue litigation anyway.

Let's hope Merc did actually sacrifice some of this year for next year and I can see Lewis win his 8th title regardless of what happened this year, which would be the ultimate revenge.

That's it for me until testing. Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year all.
I think that is fair comment.

I think that both drivers have driven brilliantly all year.
Both have made mistakes and had drives that were less than stellar.

Max deserves reward for the drives but I do think that what has happened now indicates that the FIA will accept that the decision by Masi was flawed. We dont know the back story so maybe he was 'acting under orders from above'. On that basis he will be the sacrificial beast and needs to find a new job.

Hamilton will get his 8th title in 2022 if Mercedes havent wasted their efforts this year.

Max will get his next titles in future years.

The F1 sport will hopefully get a new rule book with less dubious or rigid rules but the whole issue of overtaking and use of the run-off areas needs some really serious thought.
Bringing in penalties for 'aggressive driving' will be contentious. Late braking and managing the corner is OK.

Late braking and causing a crash should be heavily penalised by maybe a 1 or 2 race exclusion. That really makes the driver consider before doing it. This really needs to be seriously considered as we need to get rid of the bumper car mentality. If you want to do that then go to a different formula!

Where did I say you agreed with Masi’s decision and where did I say “you” have shown bias?

At times a frustrating discussion but thanks to everyone for participating, it has made the past 4 days entertaining! Let’s hope this is going to be a really and transparent change, it’s long overdue.
I can’t wait for the speculation threads and spy shots, roll on 2022!

Aye. I indeed assumed as it was a reply to my post that you have me included in your “generic response”. Guess I still feel a bit sensitive after some “interesting (not in a good way) pm’s from so called “fans” for not towing the party line of this thread for a while

The statements from Merc and Suzy are why I like Merc. The level of dignity and respect is something else.

Whether it is the right thing to do to drop it, who knows. The FIA structure is broken.

Happy Christmas all

Mercedes have dropped the issue. Maybe they didnt want to knock the fia while competing in their sport. And Lewis may have really influenced toto's choice.
But this does not remove the stain.
The FIA have made a promise to comfort mercedes and I dont think it means much.

#F1xed will not be forgetten. Championship still robbed and fixed and we soldier on.

Second championship stolen from Hamilton aruably.
For Sure!!

This looks like The CEO of Mercedes had a word with the FIA president and they agreed not to make things worse than they are.
Totto is not the head of the lion.
The fia went above him it seems and he is upset.
For Sure!!

Bring. It. On. Can’t wait to see the cars, it feels like waiting for the 2009 cars to be unveiled!

Because it'll just be a press scrum to ask them a hundred and one questions about the protest etc, and nobody wants that to be the focus of the gala. Not attending means Max and Red Bull can celebrate their achievements without the focus being on Mercedes. This is the right call.

The FIA literally posted a press release today which is relevant to this race, this thread and the current situation. Some of us were discussing it before the wave of "hey stop discussing it" people arrived. Where else should we be discussing this stuff?
Isn't there a difference between discussing a topic and repeating 10 pages 20 times of a dead lock scenario?
We're discussing the latest developments. You on the other hand are trying to start arguments as per normal. If you don't want to discuss this topic anymore there are plenty of other threads you can participate in.

I'm not sure Verstappen and Horner would be going either had the reverse happened on Sunday.

But it's a good point that the ceremony would become all about them because of the press wanting pictures and quotes instead of what it's meant to be about.

It's clearly not sour grapes as Hamilton turned up in 2016.
