It wasn't my intent to make excuses for him, i kinda expected that they were already close to their limit.JordanMugen wrote: ↑07 May 2022, 23:19The car wasn't porpoising when laterally loaded on Friday, but ultimately excuses about setup and coming on the radio to say the car is "hopping in yaw" (IIRC) are just excuses. Russell's teammate just plain outperformed him and did a better job. Likewise as when Russell outperformed the other Mercedes when Hamilton went the wrong way with setup in Jeddah.
Who knows what Mercedes did (or didn't do in response to track evolution) to make the car perform worse, but they clearly did!
Not much difference where he finished up then. I always though F1 teams would log settings so could quickly revert to the working setup if need beJordanMugen wrote: ↑07 May 2022, 23:33Whoops, I thought it was 1:29.5, my bad.Mchamilton wrote: ↑07 May 2022, 23:32Where you looking? 1:29.938 would be 10thJordanMugen wrote: ↑07 May 2022, 23:31
P5, between Bottas and Hamilton.
I wonder what went wrong with Russell's setup between Friday and Saturday? The car went from handling quite well with minimal bouncing to handling terribly and bouncing like crazy. Most curious. (But ultimately just excuses.)
My bad I didn't mean to imply that you did.Sevach wrote: ↑07 May 2022, 23:47It wasn't my intent to make excuses for him, i kinda expected that they were already close to their limit.JordanMugen wrote: ↑07 May 2022, 23:19The car wasn't porpoising when laterally loaded on Friday, but ultimately excuses about setup and coming on the radio to say the car is "hopping in yaw" (IIRC) are just excuses. However to make it worst by a reasonable amount, Mercedes in their chase for a "magic" setup might be hurting themselves.
They almost certainly do that. It is parc ferme after qualifying starts though.
As a former IndyCar (first woman to win an Indy race) and Nascar driver, she indeed understands
The rain should theoretically help Leclerc because it will basically be a green track and his higher down force setup will help. But you never know. Could be another Jeddah where degradation was low enough to be a non-factor
