Quali top 3 telemetry:

Image

* Max speed difference of 6kmh: 336kmh for both Ferraris, 342kmh for VER. But 10kmh in the straight to T17.
* I have no idea why VER's corner entry looks so weird, he lifts before entry and then brakes, both in T1, T11 and T17.
* Fast and slow corners Ferrari dominated like all the rest of the weekend
* Great traction out of T17 and T11 for VER, T17 helps him get better top speed to finish line, but LEC is much faster through it.
* SAI S1 was truly incredible
* LEC is a monster at braking and in the technical sector, best of all.

The difference in top speed seems kinda small to me for easy passes from RBR, but of course everything can happen.

I quite like Danica.
She really is great! She always asks the questions the fans want knowing? Which makes me think she follows the sport closely and understands it

Laurent Mekies on Sky believes tyre management will be key tomorrow. He said no team has done proper long runs at this temperature this year

Russell being slower than on friday is stupefying...
The car wasn't porpoising when laterally loaded on Friday, but ultimately excuses about setup and coming on the radio to say the car is "hopping in yaw" (IIRC) are just excuses. Russell's teammate just plain outperformed him and did a better job. Likewise as when Russell outperformed the other Mercedes when Hamilton went the wrong way with setup in Jeddah.

Who knows what Mercedes did (or didn't do in response to track evolution) to make the car perform worse, but they clearly did!
It wasn't my intent to make excuses for him, i kinda expected that they were already close to their limit.
However to make it worst by a reasonable amount, Mercedes in their chase for a "magic" setup might be hurting themselves.

P5, between Bottas and Hamilton.

I wonder what went wrong with Russell's setup between Friday and Saturday? The car went from handling quite well with minimal bouncing to handling terribly and bouncing like crazy. Most curious. (But ultimately just excuses.)
Where you looking? 1:29.938 would be 10th
Whoops, I thought it was 1:29.5, my bad.
Not much difference where he finished up then. I always though F1 teams would log settings so could quickly revert to the working setup if need be

My bad I didn't mean to imply that you did.

I wonder what Mercedes did to the setup between Friday and Saturday to make the car worse, it's very odd. The track conditions weren't that different, I don't think.

They almost certainly do that. It is parc ferme after qualifying starts though.

Whether they left the car the same, but the track changed and then it didn't work anymore, or they changed the car and made it worse, who knows? :?:

Losing the tyre operating window is one thing, but why would that make the car start porpoising in the middle of corners?! Unless they fiddled with lowering the ride height, but why would they do that when the car was working fine before?

Mighty Max's talent is great but so is Leclerc's! He won't get on top of Leclerc without getting it perfect. The RedBull looks a bit harder to drive in qualifying, so Max's work is cut out for him.

As a former IndyCar (first woman to win an Indy race) and Nascar driver, she indeed understands
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Ferrari with a little more downforce, and stronger through the corners, certainly suggests they’ll have better tyre management in the race - maybe similar to Australia?

Also talk of rain, surely the more loaded setup will suit Ferrari if that should occur.

Id say advantage Ferrari, but all depends on tyre wear. I can see Verstappen getting past with their epic top speed, but will his tyres hold up?

The rain should theoretically help Leclerc because it will basically be a green track and his higher down force setup will help. But you never know. Could be another Jeddah where degradation was low enough to be a non-factor
