I’m sure Liberty will be monitoring audience reaction and it’d be interesting to know how positive or otherwise it is. Assuming a lot of US viewers may be watching F1 for the first time, I don’t think this race was a particularly good advert for F1.
It wasn't too different to the various Indycar street races. The Miami track is quite a bit wider in places than a lot of the Indycar street tracks. :)

Indycar were racing at Alabama the week before on a permanent road track with nice scenery -- but the crowd there was minimal, so it is not like racing at permanent circuits is the answer in all cases.

Hope that wasn't Georges' corner Lewis.

The gamble by a few teams to run low downforce paid off then.

RedBull has the strength of making the tires last even with lower downforce setups, making them strong in race pace and mighty during direct fights. Alfa had great pace even though they had a top speed deficit. The higher drag really hurt McLaren: they had decent pace, but were completely unable to pass the slower cars in front

How is this race thread about Lewis and George? No one cares
+1
+100 they both not relevant and also not interesting seeing their queen behaviour, it is a blessing Mercedes finally not in the game anymore, let McLaren take over that role, Norris is a fine chap and fits perfectly with Max, Charles and Carlos and not being a diva.

Also do you guys just love the after race experience, seeing Max, Charles en Carlos just chill after the race ? I only remember Hamilton with Max and Vettel or Rosberg or Alonso that was always a anti-climix, guess who is gone now..

The general opinion is that RB18 produces more downforce from the floor than any other car on the grid and hence, runs less wing and overall lower drag which boosts straight line speed.

I’d say the Indycar street tracks have far more character than this new build at Miami Gardens. You really can’t compare Indycar and F1 attendances.

As I said earlier I would like to see F1 race at one of the permanent US venues, Watkins would seem to be the most suitable. Liberty don’t seem interested in a US event at a traditional venue though.

The knock-on effect is that RB18 suffers from more sliding in the tighter slower corners and are more susceptible to graining and tire degradation when they are pushing. I expect that the RB18 will suffer a lot in the following two races.

F1 is racing at a permanent venue at COTA for a decade already.

Where to discuss about F1 when the next race thread is not up?

Yeah right. And Verstappen was a whopping 60 kph faster than anyone on the straights in this race.
At least be serious…
Look, it was 27kph in the overtake on Norris without DRS, 20+ to Ver ...
That's data, not an opinion, and therefore serious I guess ?
That is in a massive tow nonetheless. In qualifying it was around the same amount as the advantage Red Bull are currently having.
No, it wasn't .. but let's just quit draggin' up old s*** just for the sake of it.

Was there something Lewis could have done to stop Russel getting a lucky free stop?
Yeah, start on hards and wait until a SC happens 😎
He could have pitted before Russel. Hè was the lead driver at that point.
He could have, but I reckon it would have been a trackposition issue then ?
I just don't have the numbers about the gap behind him at that moment.

I agree .. the post-race room breaths chillness, these guys (Per, Nor etc including) are all open and just about racing ..
Lots of mutal respect, big difference compared to earlier years.
