To me it looked like a few people went for a higher downforce setup and that worked well in a wet qualifying.

George, Alonso and Haas stood out for that. You could visibly see the bigger wing on George's car compared to Lewis for example.
interesting observation about the different setups for the two Mercedes. Could be an issue for Russell in the race (and for Haas anyway, of course).

Looks like Verstappen was running more wing than in practice as well. Not too sure about the Alpine, though.

Even if alonso jumps max off the line he's not staying ahead for more than 5 laps. Verstappen is in a different league on this track so far, so he'll munch him up in no time. Perez is completely off the pace and will only be useful to hold up leclerc for some laps before he's overtaken.

That's on rails like the track was dry!

Should be an easy stroll to the finish.

Lewis hasnt done anything notable in the wet? Are you actually serious? Yet max is vying for the top catagory lol what a joke those 2 statements are

I mean he hasn’t though? To say he classes it as one of his favourites, what has he done in the wet the last 2 seasons?
Ermm. Not sure if you are joking or partied a bit tok much last night.
This is not even a debate though.

I think we should look back at Alonso and not drift over to the G-man. Alonso wet weather performances have been highly varied, and he has some amazing wins but not consistently amazing. He has never really ben mentioned as a wet weather master snd rightfully so.

Jenson, Lewis, MSC, Senna and.... Sometimes Vettel.. Max has like three great races but needs a longer career to judge. But Alonso... You can count on one hand his great wet races.

Maybe the most slippery wet race of all time, Turkey 2020, Ham was in a league of his own ('cept Kimi's lap1). When he was prime and in a car to his liking, Ham's wet skills were amongst the best. Now...he is not "prime". However, a wet one might just be the equalizer the car needs to slow speeds and stop the jackhammering...might "turn him back on".

This would actually lead to a very exciting race (except for Verstappen that is)!

I bet Leclerc on podium today, if Ferrari manage to be ideal on strategic.

Will Alonso drive ultra aggressively in T1? Verstappen is fighting for the championship, he has to calculate - A P2 is better than DNF. Fernando is an intelligent driver, he knows about it
Alonso is a wily old fox and knows what's what. I think he will have little to do with Max and get on with his own race.
The likelihood of him winning is small so he will go for the podium and hope something turns up.
The two cars that will have little trouble passing him are the Ferrari and RBR, so it is not worth his effort burning his own resources fighting them when he can run his race and hope one or both of them are not there at the finish.

The days when he was a young buck and went for glory at any cost are gone, he will take percentage now.
(which does not mean he will not knee them in the nuts if he gets a chance)
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

Yep, I also vote he will just allow Max to run away and will be focused on his own podium. It's the sensible thing to do as fighting a Redbull is like taking a knife to a gun fight and will only waste his own time/tyres in a short-term pointless battle.

Alonso doesnt care about anyone's championship. He wanted Max to win last year to prevent LH from getting 8. I am sure he wants to preven Max from getting 2 to equal him. Max could also be approaching his win count. So Alonso will do his best to win this race. If anything he would be supporting Sainz to win if he cannot.

Yesterday's entire team bosses' meeting with the Oscar-winning role of Toto Wolff fighting for the health of the drivers was recorded by Netflix cameras. The villains were to be played by Mattia Binotto and Christian Horner. #F1pl #EchaPadoku

Yes. His first front row in 10 years.. If he is ever going to win in F-1 again, now is his best chance. The Alpine is not slow around this track. If it can go on the front row, it's fast enough in Alonso's eyes.
Some are underestimate Alonso's ego and self determination. He will fight to the death to win this race.
For Sure!!
