W13 fans:
So the temps have to be just right, the suspension has to be just right, the wind has to be just right, the track has to be just right, the floor has to be just right, the tarmac can’t be bumpy, has to be a true race track, and our rivals need to change their floors, THEN the W13 will be fast. Lol. That’s called a flawed car, and it’s still a second down on race pace. You really think the RB or Ferrari are going to slow as the season wears on? Were any of you F1 fans before 2015? 🤦‍♂️
If it were that bad, Mercedes would be bottom of the heap and not in 3rd place. I've been watching F1 since the early 90's, I've seen far worse cars than the W13 (cars that barely qualified). It's temperamental not flawed, the more they understand the car, the closer they'll get to the optimal working range of the car, which should bode well for 2023's car.
Were Mercedes caught out by the regulations ? Yes. Did they bin the car and start again ? No they've decided to get to the bottom of the issues to fix them and win. I'm a McLaren fan, so I don't really have a horse in this one.

As for the flexi planks ? Same old game in F1 - teams find a loophole to exploit, the FIA discovers it and closes the loophole, the teams caught cry about the FIA and chuck toys out of the pram. Sometimes these sorts of changes level the playing field and other times they don't make a whole lot of difference.

Checo summoned by the stewards. His lap times in Q3 will be deleted for leaving the track.

What was wrong with it? Apart from a lovely lap?

FIA now allows pushing competitors off the track as well as weaving as much as you like . This is why at Silverstone it was a free for all. This will make racing very exciting

Yeh, amazing, its been going on for 4 months now, there is no hope. May as well give up.
True just pack up and give up only 3rd in the championship make the troll happy
Lol. You wish I was a troll. Been here since 2012. 😉👍
Seems you're the only one spewing W13 slander in this race thread, unprovoked really, so in this case it's pretty safe to say you're being a troll. Go bring that discussion to the W13.

Back to the qualifying session, that lap from Max was mega. The decision (better yet the delayed reaction) from the stewards is appalling, and the justification provided being "we were too busy to do anything earlier" really is unacceptable. This isn't the local weekend track meet. Is it possible the limited direct communications for this season between the teams and FIA played a role here? As a few mentioned already, likely nearly all teams on the grid would have witness Perez running off track, and would have been on the born with the FIA?

Very interesting Qualy session! Damn that RB track is actually very cool and challenging!

Imo It’s actually great to have both the W13 out of position because it will make the Sprint Race interesting!
I just hope Russel doesn’t have to change his gearbox otherwise he is in trouble!

Also interesting to see how much faster Sir LH is compared to GR! Anyone has a logical “technical” explanation?

Lewis stopped running radical test setups etc post-canada and since then (and actually including Canada where ham didn't get any running with his setup prior to Quali) we've seen Hamilton have the upper hand over Russell. Simple as that imo

rules changed this year, and he has only used 2 gearboxes so far (from a total of 4 allowed). So no trouble for him, at least until later in the season maybe.

Did anyone see any sparks from The floor today? On any car!?

RB whos usually a firework?
Did everyone raise their car?
Yes. The floors of both Alpines were quite sparky when going through the final corner.

Surely that Perez lap will be deleted?
Was out of the white lines with all fours in a couple places. Surely must be deleted.

If he's out %100 and can take part in Q3, another travesty of a decision from the stewards.
Stewards are just a bit slow....

Sparks from under the Merc just ahead of the rear tire moments before RUS lost it.

Simple, because he wasn't off track, i guess you refer to this image:

The rear is arguably still on the white line, and the front is further to the right than the rear with the white line being straight in that area.

They didn't notice it until Q3 had started:
I've seen it, but thanks for bringing it up anyway, cause it means they haven't been watching the live feed (not doing thier jobs), or borderline blind.
