As the document says, only when in a large pack of cars. The cars were ‘strung out’ at that point in lap 1.
If it had been the same crash at turn 1 rather than 4, I’d imagine it would go down as ‘1st lap incident’

Maybe he could lift off instead of braking?
He could certainly brake there or he could release the throttle a little bit. What you are talking about is nonsense, this is not a high speed corner and the driver can delay his application of the throttle to avoid traffic if needed. I have driven this corner in a sim probalby 1000 times and have been a close follower of F1 for 10+ years. So sit your ass down.mzivtins wrote: ↑10 Jul 2022, 17:45How on earth can you brake whilst at the limit of lateral grip? A Tyre cannot magically offer up imaginary grip.Hammerfist wrote: ↑10 Jul 2022, 17:41
He could have braked. Once Perez got fully alongside and edged ahead george should be thinking how can i avoid contact there. This corner has been heavily policed the last few years and the car on the outside usually goes in the gravel and the guy on the inside gets penalized. Off the top of my head i remember Hamilton vs Albon 2020, Norris vs somebody in 2021 and this year there are two more. If it was me I would not even attempt an overtake on the outside there, it seems to always end badly. Perez should have been more patient.
Sorry to say this but, is this a troll response? You are on an f1 technical forum and think any racing car ever made in history an just magic force applying grip out of nowhere when on the limit?
This is not the right sport for you or the right place to discuss if these core basic cencepts are missing. Stick Netflix
Grosjean?ispano6 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2022, 17:52George shouldn't be GP drivers association prez with his pr*ck and a**hole moves. Doesn't deserve to finish in the same place where he started for effectively destroying Checo's race. DIRTY Mercedes driver who took out Checo who would clearly have finished on the podium ahead of Hamilton. Two races in a row involved in causing a collision. Alonso should be GPDA prez.
Especially when it was on lap 1. If it was later in the race maybe (even then I would lean towards a racing incident.
