Merc were holding back a little pace it seems.
😂

Tbh, their pace hasn’t been too bad. AM not that impressive tbh.

Great racing so far. 2-8 all having battles. AMR chasing merc on tyre deg. Verstappen showing them why he's so good at race management.
Having so much advantage by car helps that management…

Ocon and Alpine showing more incompetence after last season's Piastri contract saga. Their pre-season testing looked arrogant by ignoring anything that resembled race running, and it is now biting them.

Alpine are a shambles imo. No faith in them ever getting near the top

Well this is a fun race, regulations doing a great job of stopping a team from dominating and its also clear once again Perez will pose zero threat to max all season which makes for a garbage championship fight.
I’m not sure the regulations were designed to stop a single team dominating but rather to stop one team in particular dominating.
The big teams still have a huge inbuilt advantage from years of massive spending. The cost cap will take some time to change that, but at least a start has been made.

AM have far more WT and CFD time available than RBR in particular. It’ll be interesting to see AM can make good use of that for in season development. Will it make a difference?

Going to be amazing looking back at the tyre deg after this race. RB have made 2 sets of softs last longer than everyone else doing a soft and hard. Thats seriously impressive.

This is legitimately the best team performance at this track since Mercedes' W05 (2014).

This is by far the worst season opener since the Schumacher domination days!

A driver leading by miles up front all alone having absolutely no competition not even from his teammate!

Even during 2014-2020 we always had some kind of battle in the first races!

I see Verstapen winning every single race of this season with the reliability these cars have now…

Alonso on slightly fresher tyres, so should be able to chase Lewis down come the last laps if he can edge the tyres out a little more.

AM car coming alive now. Should be easy for them and then we've got 20 laps with the top 4 teams 2x2x2x2 spread over....60+ seconds?
