Possibly anotherr control unit related issue?

In #Sainz the control unit that transmits the data also crashed apparently, for reference it usually happens when they have bad accidents, let's see what they say
I think he ran over something.

It might be a manhole cover? You can just make it out on the track right before the impact on the camera,

The chassis may be broken according to Ted Kravitz. At the very least floor:

but probably front suspension and more. The telemetry stopped being broadcast by the car when he hit the bump which indicates an issue with ECU so it seems like a huge issue.

pathetic... it's a new track, bring some minor formula to test it out before you run f1 on it.

Alpine changing chassis for Ocon - probably the same for Sainz

Not good. Carlos might need engine penalty at this rate

Vasseur is absolutely right. What a disaster to let auch a thing happen on a brand new track. Who’s gonna pay the millions of damage? Of course the team having zero fault.

The precedent with things like this is that Ferrari may be able to sue the track for the damages, but it will likely cost Ferrari 7 figure amount from the cost cap

There is no way they can penalize the driver. It just doesn't seem right man. Although I can agree allowing him to take a new engine puts him at an advantage compared to others. In that case allow everyone to take a new PU for this event without penalties.

PU suppliers probably don't have enough spares on hand for that sort of thing

Albert says Sainz was using a Friday engine, so probably no risk of engine penalties even if they've lost their only spare battery

They could have switched Sainz and Leclerc in Monza and get an easy P2 and pressure Max a bit, but they didn't because it could be a bad image.
Maybe

Another theory is RBR and Checo was loads faster than both Ferraris, wich is the reason he passed both of them on track , so it was a p3-4, or p3-4, no matter what Ferrari was in front.

What´s the reason you assume Charles could have hold back a much faster Perez, easily, despite on real world, on track, both RBRs fly-passed both Ferraris?

Leclerc divinity does not count as a reason :P , he couldn´t hold back Perez for p3, so there´s no reason to assume he could have hold him back for p2

Nobody will talk about it tomorrow. We lost FP1 and maybe FP2 but nobody will talk about that incident by tomorrow. At least according to Toto.

First "official" confirmation of a new suspension? Front or rear though?

Duchessa
Stewards: Therefore the mandatory sanction provided for in article 28.3 of the Sporting Regulations must be applied.
The Stewards point out that if they had the authority to grant a waiver in what they consider in this case extenuating, unusual and unfortunate circumstances, they would have done so, however the regulations do not permit such action.

#Sainz will therefore be penalized
https://twitter.com/GiulyDuchessa/statu ... 7816483193

Highly unjust. At least the stewards would have given dispensation if the regs allowed it - something to revisit in the off-season for reg writers then

so unfair to the teams and the driver.
