No technical fault that caused the crash of Lando. Could be the car bottomed out or cold tyres or miscalculation
Aggressive porpoising and the rear steps out which he tries to correct
Onboard

I'm just glad he's OK, sounds hugely winded.

Porpoising had been affecting us all weekend and we don't seem to have been able to dial it out. Perhaps the issue died down as the race went on, but I'm inclined to think that it highlights what a magnificent job Oscar did.

Edit: The cars impact wasn't that substantial as was slowed mostly by the track and not the wall and Lando was likely and understandably emptying his bowels. The car fishtailing like that at that speed on an effectual straight is so dangerous. He was a passenger and he could not predict or stop that. Its worrying to see. On the wrong place on the track that could have been insanely dangerous.

Lets wait to see what the team say, I hope it is mechanical and not the skittishness of the car on the circuit.

The first slap of the left front with the tecpro looked quite significant. That may have winded him, not the final impact inside the runoff area which looked quite minor after scrubbing off all the speed already.

"There's a bump in that place and you can see all the cars spark when they go through this bump," Stella explained.
"I think the combination of the bump and the cold tyres might have surprised him.
"Otherwise we don't see any issue, let's say with the car or of a different nature."

Stella suggesting an amount of driver error? He doesn't look positioned any different to the car in front. What was he supposed to do in that situation?

The fuller quote:

“There’s a bump in that place. There’s a bump and you can see all cars spark when they go through this bump, and I think the combination of this bump and the cold tires might have surprised him. Otherwise we don’t see any issue with the car or of a different nature.

“In fairness, it’s the same bump for everyone. So it just depends on your speed, the condition of your tires, how your car is positioned over the bump there, the position of the car ahead, so there are multiple factors. Just maybe Lando made the assumption that there was enough grip, but it’s a very tricky place.

“I’m sure all drivers will comment that that’s something that needs to be fixed.”

I’m glad to hear everything is ok with Lando👍🏻
Just an unfortunate instance.
As I thought Mclaren had a top 10 car- arguably a top 5 car.
Great race from Oscar, he deserved more than 2 points though……

I don't think the cars race pace was in dispute by anyone?

Thanks God Lando is Ok.

The race: Our strategy team may have slept the first half of the race. Oscar's pace was one of the best of the field. Despite this he gained only 2 points. Poor work from the team. :(

Oscar fought like a lion, damn shame since he could have been in top 5.
Two unlucky moments:
1. collision with Hamilton and a puncture
2. bad timing of second safety car

Still P10 from P19.

Without 2 he would have ended P5 or so. Great pace.
Does anybody has a footage on the collision? The TV operators were blind or something.

Just a racing incident. It's not a pleasant corner in some ways as it is a prime overtaking site that doesn't leave a huge amount of room for 2 cars on entry to the next corner.

Not saying it was.
I’m just reassuring myself after a poor quali session🤣

Pace was good, which is reassuring. Execution less so. Hope we can bounce back in Abu Dhabi and get Lando P4 in the WDC and Oscar to triple figures. Also hang on to P4 in the constructors although I don't care as much about that tbh.

Piastri upheld our honour today, great drive! I can't help thinking 'what if Norris finished the race and Piastri was not screwed by Hamilton'? Would have been another good one for us I beleive. Not Brazil good, but good.
