That is a strong statement.

Here's what's written on track testing in 2009 F1 sporting regulations:
Track testing shall be considered any track running time undertaken by a competitor entered in the Championship with the exception of:

1) promotional or demonstration events carried out using tyres provided specifically for this purpose by the appointed supplier ;

2) three one day young driver training tests carried out between the end of the last Event of the Championship and 31 December of the same year, any such driver having not competed in more than two F1 World Championship Events ;

3) eight one day aerodynamic tests carried out on FIA approved straight line or constant radius sites between 1 January 2009 and the end of the last Event of the Championship.
This falls under #1.

I think the thread title is rather misleading, as Badoer isn't testing but just driving the F60 for promotional filming.

And what are specifically appointed promotional tyres? Used slicks, intermediates, or what?

They're supposed to be an ultra-hard slick model.

Im sure there are enough checks in place to ensure this isnt a "test". The rule is there for a reason.

Has any other teams used this rule?

F1 Technical's news is a little misleading. They use an ultra-hard compound tyre so no real data could actually be collected from the car, i'm pretty sure someone from the FIA would be there scrutinizing the event too.

yes, ultra-hard compound and someone from FIA to "keep watch"

but hey presto, he will get the "real feel" from the F60 and not from simulator and I think this will definitely help him for his race preparations..... clever idea =D> who wants to collect data when you have whole two Friday free practice sessions to better prepare the car for Saturday's free practice and ultimately to quali.....!! :twisted: :wink:

wot say u?

promotional event!?!?!? Who the what wants to see Luca Badoer? What is hid name or brand going to sell? Gimmi a damned break, if it was truly a promo event Kimi or even MS would b in the car.

I wonder about these ultra hard slicks, are these the 2010 slicks we heard about BS testing in the winter?

Pardon me for muddying the water with facts:
The Italian will be restricted to using Bridgestone's ultra-hard promotional tyres and will not be able to exceed the 100km limit agreed by the teams on either day.

A statement on the team's website read: "While Felipe is recovering in Brazil, tomorrow the Scuderia will take up its work after a two-week break, which had been agreed with the other teams.

+1 LOL

I think it was the break that was agreed by the other teams not Badoer's test, but those promotional tyers would be next to useless

Please explain how so...

Their is a 100kph speed limit for the test, therefore I doubt any valuable data will be collected. Please stop the conspiracies.

How dare you!

The more I think about it, the more I believe the all-out testing ban is ridiculous.

Anytime they slot a new driver in, he should get a day in the car. Looking at Alguersuari, and now Badoer, there's no argument that before they're dropped straight into the F1 fires, they should at least be given a bit of time, away from other drivers, to become competent (safe?) in the car.

What if Ferrari and MS had not staged the 2007 car "test"? Schumacher could, conceivably, been racing this weekend with a serious medical condition that was not fully tested prior to racing. They would have had no way of knowing how his neck/head would have stood up to the forces of F1. Now, it's logical to assume they would have staged some other form of test, or been on the safe side and not done it at all...but maybe not.
