The more I think about it, the more I believe the all-out testing ban is ridiculous.
Anytime they slot a new driver in, he should get a day in the car. Looking at Alguersuari, and now Badoer, there's no argument that before they're dropped straight into the F1 fires, they should at least be given a bit of time, away from other drivers, to become competent (safe?) in the car.
What if Ferrari and MS had not staged the 2007 car "test"? Schumacher could, conceivably, been racing this weekend with a serious medical condition that was not fully tested prior to racing. They would have had no way of knowing how his neck/head would have stood up to the forces of F1. Now, it's logical to assume they would have staged some other form of test, or been on the safe side and not done it at all...but maybe not.
