gosh it's almost like having 2 eyes it's not a problem. Lets obscure the apex instead.

It feels much different trust me versus having a clear view. Ask people who ride motorcycles or who where glasses all day.
I wear glasses all day and don't even notice them.... Certainly less than I would if they were lop-sided... So really not sure how that helps your argument, so much as proves the other side of it right....
If I come across as blunt, I apologise, it's my ASD. Sometimes, like an F1 car aqua-planing, it gets out of my control.

If you read the first post it is driver preference. You not noticing your glasses has nothing to do with a high performance athlete.

Ultimately, having it in the middle is the best solution, because as soon as you arrive at a corner you aren't looking straight ahead. You only do that when you are driving straight.
