I would like to see a good performance by Checo in his home race this time after his early exit in last year's Mexican GP.
I am not sure they would, but I wonder if teams are able to turn an engine up for a race in exchange for a shorter lifespan. At this point Red Bull might as well try anything they can to give Checo a decent chance at a good result.

Leclerc will dominate again with Lando and Max fighting for second place is my prediction. Could be wrong of course, if Max has a good front end he can deliver some magic. If he has to much understeer Red Bull will be the third best team again. Its a lottery.

I've deleted a lot of bickering about retired drivers... not on topic for this race

Lando and Max have only won 2 of the last 9 GPs. I expect them to fall short again in Mexico. Another Ferrari win
Odd way of saying Lando won 2 of last 5 GPs.

Every driver from the top 4 teams has managed to win a race this year except for one. Checo needs this win more than anyone.

The Red Bull is likely just the 3rd best car on average these days, so Checo would need either an extraordinary performance or extraordinary luck to win a race in this car. There's four good-to-great drivers in the other four cars faster than his.

And there's good reason to think Mexico City will not be a Red Bull-friendly track, either. Wouldn't even be surprised if he's not in Q3.

Generally if Leclerc dominates, Sainz will also be in the mix for the podium positions. If we expect Leclerc to win, we should also expect Sainz to be in contention with Norris and Max for P2, or just dropping them entirely.

Sainz always does well when Leclerc wins, apart from Australia 2022. It's very rare to see Leclerc win and to see Sainz finish off the podium if he doesn't DNF. The only time I can think of is Monza 2024 and that was a P4 after Leclerc drove probably the best race of his career.

The one that doesn't deserve to be in top team.

Test drivers coming in for FP1:

- Ferrari: Bearman, replacing Leclerc (tbc)
- McLaren: O'Ward, replacing Norris
- Mercedes: Antonelli, replacing Hamilton
- Aston: Drugovich, replacing Alonso
- Sauber: Shwartzman, replacing Zhou

Those skipping the session will get half an hour for "normal" practice at the end of the FP2 tire test. Likely only on mediums, though.

What I wouldn't do for a white sidepod and full retro livery. It would look SOOOOOO cool in a full blown 90s Williams livery.

How do these tyre tests impact the tyre selection for the rest of the weekend? Do the test tyres replace the normal tyres in the weekend allotment, or do they just effectively end up with more fresh tyre sets because they can run on the test tyres instead of the normal ones in practice?

I always wished for the 1992 car to have a blue side pod

Mclaren must be crazy for O'ward not taking Piastri's seat for FP1

if I got the rules right, then teams have one normal set less (2-3-7 instead of 2-3-8), but get the tire test ones on top. In total, 3 normal sets need to be returned after FP1 and FP2 (varying between teams using young drivers or not), including a previously unused medium after FP2.

So I assume most will go H-S in FP1 and M (or in most cases, nothing at all) in FP2. And from then on, it's basically as usual again with 1-2-6 left.
