Ferrari F10

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Interesting. I wonder where they got that data from. However, that's a topic for a different day and a different thread. Back to the F10... I wonder if we'll see a more complex wing later on in testing? The current wing is still overly simplistic (to my untrained eyes)

Thanks for the vid mike, but we've seen that guy report incorrect info in those vids before... even 30kg would seem a bit much.

According to Ferrari themselves that is the same front wing from 2009, but they might not chnage a thing after showing so much "preseason" speed in the first test

That is actually different version, those additional winglets are not as on 2009 wing.

I'm pretty sure I read that they did taper the gearbox this year for this very purpose, can't remember where I read it but it wasn't more than 2 or 3 days ago

Ok, let me clarify my badly chosen words... I seemed to have read that the F10 was launched with the 2009 wings? am I correct... and did they continue using those wings for the 1st test?

So pretty much the same, just some minor element changes.

You are great with those pics man, good stuff

Rear looks the same, but surely some changes on the front wing.

The front of the bottom plate has changed. I think I see a hole in the middle...

ferrari has a lot more upper floor area at the sides while Mclaren has more exposed floor area at the rear.

check the floor area to the left of the sidepods, more is good, hence why undercutting is critical.

Hard to say which is the better configuration; undercut the side more or the rear. :-k

The report says the F10 has the engine 3,5° tilted out of horizontal. This is done to create more space for the diffusor.

I might be wrong but wouldn't this set up allow then to have a fuel tank that tapers downwards, as the fuel tank is bounded on one side by the plane of the engine. can anywone savvy with the laws confirm this? pretty please?

change to C of M will be marginal, its only 3.5deg, and its a rotation, not a movement.
