those absolute best times ,does anyone know if they all actually did them on option tyres?
If that was the case ,Ferraris pace was the representing a true picture for them whereas for the others it seems they would have to qualify on primes (at a possibly slower speed) to run at the speed demonstarted in their longruns,so these would face the trouble of having to work around lower grid positions.
I think williams,FI , Renault and also the newbies may follow a similar approach (going for softs in Qualy) just to open a window of opportunity in terms of track position although maybe one or another car may have bigger issues with tyre wear at full tank (maybe Lotus with their fuel tanl expanding quite dramatically up to shoulder height?).

Merc have already begun to show their hand... Yesterday with Nico, and now today with Michael. Schu currently trading fastest laps with Bulk on qualy sim runs. Is the W01 already carrying Bahrain-spec aero updates?

[10:50am]: Bulk now up by +0.381 over Schu (1m20.539s vs 1m20.920s). Ferrari are probably no longer hiding anything for Bahrain, while Merc might still have a few tenths in hand with their expected aero updates come Bahrain race weekend.

[11:09am]: Schu does 1m20.804s in lap 2 of another qualy run to stay 2nd fastest, cutting down Bulk's lead to +0.265. Fairly impressive if he's doing this without the expected aero updates for Bahrain.

I believe you are getting your wish Lewis sets a 1m20.660s, a slow one and then a 1m20.592s.

According to my data, relyability runs like this accross all teams:

There is a Red Flag Every 71.573 Laps
There is a Red Flag Every 315.920 Kilometers

As there has been 50 red flags accross all the tests so far, will probably rise this afernoon no doubt. But that source data is the data from the end of yesterday, no lap/distance from today has been added tho sou could be artificial.

So, by my reckoning, there could be abour 6-8 retirements due to relyability problems every race. That figure excludes accedents involving more than one car tho.

You can work out the retirements based on red flags due to all the teams running the car dry to test their fuel pick up systems.

That is true, so my figure may be slightly artificial tho. I will conceed that.
