Jenson Button has masterfully driven to his first win of the year, his first for McLaren. In the early stages he switched tyres at the right time while he succesfully nursed his option tyres to the end of the race. Robert Kubica is a happy second for Renault, followed by Felipe Massa.

So much of the commentary from the SpeedTV crew is absolutely rubbish and usless. I'd rather hear monkeys talk than those idiots. They speak like as if they're in their living room just talking in between themselves and not with a nationwide audience.

You cannot compare dry and wet times! At the time when he was setting this time it was the fastest. So for the purpose of wet practise he did well.

The Stewards have received a request from the F1 Safety Delegate for all refuelling (Article 29 of the 2010 Formula One Sporting Regulations) during the Qualifying Practice Session to be carried out in the Team's garages, not in the Pit Lane.
The Stewards agree to the request under Article 141 of the 2010 FIA International
Sporting Code.

Button and Hamilton will have the head lines but their times were set in the dry. The fastest men when it counted in the mixed conditions were Webber and Schumacher.

If an additional driver is used (see Article 19.1(b) he must use the tyres allocated to the nominated driver he replaced.
The commentator was right, but not complete in his statement. They also must return one prime.

Thanks WB! The commentator just mentioned that a team (don't remember which) might as well use their options as theys would not be able to save them. They had already uesd the primes so it wasn't even at issue in the context of his comment!

Well it looks like at the time MS set his fastest lap Alonso was 2.5 seconds slower (also on his fastest).
As usual I guess we dont know the fuel laods etc though.
Both Ferrari drivers were using heavy fuel loads only in FP1 and FP2. It is a bit strange considering that qualifying is all important and that it may rain during FP3. They also did miss most of FP2 during the wet/intermediate conditions preferring to wait out the session in their garages. They may regret this bias towards race conditions.

Just got home from the track, don't know if this has been mentioned but our buddy Peter Windsor was doing track side commentary including the odd mention of USF1 when talking about the newer teams difficulties...was quite surprised. Saw Vettel spin late in the second session, it really is amazing how fast these guys react.
