Alonso was hit in the wheel and not in the fragile bodywork. Although it's still surprising that he didn't suffer any suspension damage, as we've seen other incidents like that were even though the car was fine to continue it had to retire later on.

Totally agree, I think there were two pieces of luck involved. The first was that he was already turning in that direction near the limit of grip on a very slippery circuit so that the car more easily spun than normal, thus reducing the forces involved. The second was that Rubens obviously hit Alonso in just the right place and in the right direction for the car to stand up to that impact. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that if the impact had been a few cm either side of where it is it would have ended Alonso's race.

Alonso FAIL, that's all i have to say about him. Massa was by far the better driver for the weekend.
Agreed for LH, but not for Alonso. He was taken out by Rubens in lap one, put wrong tires and had to pit once more. Even after that he made a great recovery to 8th. Then he pushed a bit too hard and made a mistake. But his push was justified. If he settled for 8th he would get just 2 miserable points.

F1 is not about IF. But I must say if Kimi was racing in place of Massa. He would have lapped Alonso at Spa. And also on other circuits he would have thrashed that cry baby Alonso

BS!!! I am sorry to say that, but you seem completely outside reality. At no point anyone was close to lapping Alonso. If what you say was anywhere close to reality Kimmi would have won with >1 min margin ahead of LH  At the time when Alonso crashed he was ~35 sec behind LH....

I have been wanting to ask this a long time but I didn't want to start a new thread.

What does everyone think of Bruno Senna?

I think he has been nothing but a disappointment. I know the HRT car is a bad, but I at least expected him to dominate his teammate(s).

The damage of front wing in his first lap was a seriously a disappointing movement and lap later left suspension failed was the shocking movement for them but i think it's a technical issue next time he will be back with a good start.

Allthough Alonso made a stupid mistake he once again showed how much better he is then Massa. After being hit by Barrichello, putting on the wrong tyres and being drop dead last, he recovered and overtook a number of guys, even was stuck for a moment behind I believe a Sauber and despite all of that, he still managed to be only a couple of seconds behind Massa. At one point the camera even cought the two on the same straight. Now that is unbelievable.

+1 I said the same. It was a very good drive with an unfortunate mistake at the end of the race

I think no one can really argue that Alonso is a hell of a driver. But whether or not he is a hell of a character/personality is a different matter

^^ And your point is? This is a racing series, not the personality of the year awards.

My point being that's exactly my point. A lot of people flame him for being a whiner and stuff like that, where the discussion should be more of his driving skills
