That's a load of crap for a start because in the first few lines MM says I wouldn't call that cheating. So where does he say that it's ok to cheat exactly?!

My thoughts exactly. :?

Personally, I knew something was wrong when Todt said Schumi didn't do it on purpose and they have proof of it. If they did, why didn't they show their facts/proof/whatever before the decision was made? I'm sure he was very well aware that the incident was being investigated.

About Macau...

Both cars were speeding at straight so how was it possible for Schuey to loose his rear wing before Hakinnen hit the wall if he didn't "brake checked him" as someone said?

Russ,

Sorry buddy but try reading it first....then understand what you read !! You come out with only 2 words from the whole article...."no he didnt cheat"....thats all you were able to extract from that !!

quote 1
FIA President Max Mosley believes Michael Schumacher should not be called a cheat for his incident in qualifying for which is got punished by the Monaco Grand Prix Stewards.
Here max says shoie isnt a cheat.

quote 2
"I wouldn't go as far as to say it was cheating," Mosley told Reuters. "You've got to take the thing in its context, in the heat of the moment when you are desperately trying to get on the front row of the grid and you've got a split second to take a decision."
This is where i believe i am reading into the fact that its okay to cheat because you only have seconds to take a decision!!!!! We all know shoies decision....!!!

quote 3
Mosley though didn't feel the Stewards made a wrong decision. "The stewards have the advantage of having every detail, every piece of information and being able to know on previous laps where he braked, where he steered, accelerated, how quick he was going and so on," he said. "Armed with all that information, they come to a conclusion. It took them several hours, they went into great detail, it's how it should be done. That's sport."

"If you reach the conclusion that someone has done something that they shouldn't do, you've got to react. We've got to try and keep the playing field level. But these situations are always difficult."
In this 3rd quote he contradicts the first quote. In the first quote he said shoie doesnt cheat and here in the third quote he is saying, "well the stewards have all the information and they make the right decisions". THE DECISION IS HE CHEATED !!!

ok the real sotry is this ..is im portugues put in gogle and translate source http://www.record.pt

E daí a sanção. Se tivesse chocado contra a vala não o poderíamos castigar", declarou o comissário, fundamentando o discurso. "O artigo 116 sanciona tanto a vontade de prejudicar os outros pilotos como o facto de parar deliberadamente", notou, dizendo que o alemão foi sancionado com base no segundo trâmite.

"A lei é clara. Se se pára porque se quer, perdem-se os tempos. Ele parou porque quis", concluiu.

so shumacher did a mistake and try not to it the wall the car was on track and ruined the other drivers lap so the penalaty is for that .....it was the right thing to do..... but like we says if he had hit the wall the story was diferente ...

No wonder this sport is going down hill.

Am i the only one who reads the above as MM acknowledges he cheated but then says its acceptable to do this because you only have a split second to make a cheating decision !!!
To compare with soccer:

If a striker breaks through on goal, and the goalkeeper tries to get the ball, misses, then realises he needs to bring the forward down to stop a goal...

Would he be subjected to the same level of abuse?

Bild is not known as a reliable source. Who knows...

The stewards took many hours to decide to punish Shu, they must have studied every detail to make sure that he definitely did it on purpose. If they had not been 100% certain, they would not have penalized him. He did what he did, the people who had all the data are certain of that.
What I see is different perspectives from different viewpoints.
Max Mosley, the big cheese of the FIA is in agreement with the stewards, that it did happen. But he is trying to minimize the labelling, preferring to avoid "cheater" hung on Michael Schumacher. He would prefer to call it a momentary lapse of judgement, a bad mistake made in the heat of the moment. That would be fair treatment for most, because everyone deserves a second chance. But Michael has done this very same thing before, many times. And that's the sad part, that such a gifted and capable man feels he needs to stoop to unethical behavior to achieve his goal.
I believe MichaelSchumacher is a great driver, as capable as his most fervent fans believe. He has all the tools, and is the benchmark for modern Formula One drivers, in his skills, preparation, work ethic, and everything else. But the man has a flaw, and it's deep inside his character, that he is willing to do unethical things.
So sad, that such a great driver does these things.

Based on how hard it easy to overtake at Monaco, if you can secure the pole, you are virtually "given" the win, abeit failures.
Had he not spun he would have been second on the grid, maybe third if Kimi hadn't been held up elsewhere on the track. Michael was fast that weekend, and could have kept up with anyone who was in front of him. Given that Ferrari have a master strategist, it would have been little trouble for Ferrari to have engineered the win assuming Schumacher was running in the top three. Thus while the pole is more important at Monaco than any other circuit, it isn't quite as important to Schumacher and Ferrari as you make out.
