Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

With alonso's last run at FP1, if he had made it before the flag came out. Assuming all the conditions were the same (I emphasize assuming) I would say we prolly 2 to 3 tenths behind vettel. Hard to say because we don't know whether vettel was on a flying lap with new tires, low fuel, etc. I know Newey was adjusting a lot of the front wing.

I know with the last 8 minutes where they used the new FW + RW. There was a comment where his RW seemed a bit lose? Not sure what that means. Anyone heard the same?

But 4/10s is encouraging compared to the usual 6/10s behind. I might be wrong again. We will not know until FP2/3 or qualy I suppose.

In the 4th picture in Forza's sequence, what is the white part before the rear wheel?

It's some kind of thermal pad/heat shielding surface.

Indeed, this is heat shield, as the hot gases from the exhaust drop down there, pushed by the downwash flow generated from the sidepod form.
Thanks for posting all those "debug" pictures, Forza.

Chaps, correct me if I'm wrong, but the slot gap between the Gurney Flap (wickerbill) and diffuser's upper trailing edge has increased a bit?

Kiril Varbanov@ The Gurney Flap is mounted on small pillars on top of diffuser so they most likely change the angle and position of it according to overall car setup.

I meant the hole in the diffuser, under the rear crash structure. I've never seen it before the Indian Gp.
