Lotus E21 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I like the red.
Nostalgia is pointless. Their they're own team wanting to write their own history. Maybe some day a team will want to copy the red black and gold of the 2013 car.
I guess the red makes it easier to read the sponsors adds from afar. The black and gold was in fact a bit subdued, it made you look on the car as a whole instead of noticing what was written in the gold writing.
For Sure!!

All-red-painted endplates, while the car was merely black and a bit gold, gave to the E20 an awful look IMO. Since Lotus F1 team cars arent really black and gold but black and red due to Total (and the new mysterious sponsor), I find 2013 livery less awful because it's more balanced thanks to the red areas placed in the center of the car.
For a black and red car, it's nice. : P

"F1 Technical"... what a silly name for this website... "F1 Aesthetic" maybe?

Exactly. And it's not very common in F1...

Damn you Lotus. we must wait until the 5th of February and be content with trifles
E21 is said to be 50mm longer than E20

I think you need to stretch the E21 pic a bit to counter for parallax.

Yeah but airbox intake would look too big if compared with the E20

The hole presentation was a bluff because the cgi model was different as the model presented live on stage... So i think we would see many difference on the track. IMHO The presentation was only a showcar for the sponsor, nothing to do with the car, that would driving by Kimi & Grosjean.

do you think Lotus, one way or another, has continued to develop its braking system which had been banned last year?

may be they have to find a way to stay in the "limits" of the settlement this time?

is it possible that they dropped this concept, definitely?

However, this system had a gain in performance undeniable.

Who knows, but it's probably hard to find the same effect and staying in the rules.

I'm curious about the F/R suspension layout that Allison mentioned about because for the front to be more aerodynamically efficient I can think of pullrod, but the renders (which are closer to the real ting) show it with the pushrod. I was excited about the car launch, but now I am more excited about seeing the car at the first test.

stefan_ @ They could also place the wishbone at that back to form an shroud ahead of the driveshaft (RB8 rear track rod and wishbone design) to prevent the negative effect of rotating shaft on the aero. We'll see the layout in Jerez.

I won't be surprised.
James Allison mentioned aerodynamic potential in front suspension.

Agreed. I like the livery. They should keep it but rename themselves "Enstone" officially. They're practically themselves that anyway at any given opportunity. It'd be cool for a team to be named after it's longstanding base.
