How many laps before you get to know the characteristics?
Do you push hard or go easy, how do you bed the tyre in? How do you set up the car?
Everything is at default setting and Pirelli know what they are looking for whereas Mercedes don't.
Your assumption Mercedes gained from this test foregoes the previous 5 GP and 3 tests(5204kms) where clearly Mercedes W04 have shown stupendous ability to go through tyres and show no real progress on that front.
Please tell me, how a 1000km test on unmarked tyres make a difference?

The fact is you cannot compare. Pirelli didn't test a Barca GP spec tyre, they tested mainly 2014 tyres and a 1 or 2 for this year.
Kevlar banded rear tyres to help with de-laminations.
Who suffered a very high profile de-lamination? Mercedes.
Red Bull and Ferrari surprisingly where also offered to look on at this test, which makes Red Bull's squawking all the more amusing.
Anyhow, Joe Saward has run another piece I think you should read.
