Bernie does. The bickering is his entree, drama is mains and negativity is dessert - in which he whips the cream.

Talk of Merc leaving F1 over this tribunal.
John Todt is up for re-election soon isnt he.
This should rattle his complacent cage nicely.

It is commonly believed that The Mole was Peter Windsor. I cannot prove that it is true. And you cannot prove it is not!

But the tales of the various Penelopes are sorely missed by this reader.

He really is the full course prick.

Anyway, with the hearing coming up tomorrow, things will settle down. Except that if Mercedes gets no punishment things will explode. Here, on other forums, at Ferraru, in Helmut Marko's head,... .

Pirelli will most likely get away with it. They can't be convicted anyway in front of the tribunal, and all attention goes to Mercedes. Though more of this bad publicity and Pirelli will give F1 the finger.

other end of the telescope ?

not going the bridgestone concrete tyre /boring race route , just shows the impossible task pirelli face in following their remit

as I understand that pirelli are permitted to make a unilateral change on safety grounds , and that they would like to change for marketing reasons but cannot , it stands to reason that Sutil's statement is correct ; zero crashes due to deflations ...must be good
to the optimist a glass is half full ; to the pessimist a glass is half empty ; to the F1 engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be

No crashes, but damage was done to the car by the delaminations themselves. IMO, in Sutil's case it's always easy to claim things when you are on the green side of the grass.

Next to that, a very plausible situation would be that a driver behind could get a chunk of rubber to his head due the driver in front had a delamination. Sounds like a safety reason to me, to the FIA and to Pirelli who only claim not doing it for safety because that would admitting their tyres suck the big one.

Informations from twitter:
● Christian Horner is present at the hearing.
● They don't let journalists send tweets from the hearing. (no live updates)
"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe." Murray Walker, San Marino 1985

Anyone know what time the tribunal begins? Autosport.com is apparently going to have live coverage, but no word as to when.

"Another early twist to what were already set to prove fascinating proceedings today according to Ted Kravitz is the suggestion from Niki Lauda, Mercedes' Non-Executive Chairman, via the German press that the FIA offered the team the chance to 'cut a deal' provided they pleaded guilty to the charges levied against them by the Tribunal:

Ted says: "This is a report we're getting this morning from the German press, Niki Lauda supposedly saying that the FIA were ready to cut a deal with Mercedes if they pleaded guilty ahead of the hearing. This hearing would have been cancelled and then some punishment would have been meted out.

"Lauda was also saying, after suggesting this supposedly, his Team Principal Ross Brawn and Toto Wolff said 'no, we want this to go to trial, go to the tribunal and take our luck in the court'. So we will see if that was the right decision or not. I think Ross Brawn fancies his chances here today, whether he's successful we'll find out in the next few hours."

I see the BBC are quoting FIA sources as saying it is unlikely that we'll get a verdict today.

That's really a bolt move. And a sign of weakness from the FIA.

EDIT: mclaren, ferrari and williams also send legal observers.
