found on autosportforums, Scott Baily:
Blimey I have a tonne of snaps to go through... The Red Bull camo livery was catching the attention of my camera lens quite a lot, and also Nico who kindly provided many photo ops!

Mean time - heres a stroke of luck I had. I made a little video of Sebastian Vettel's fastest lap of the day in the afternoon. The Ferrari looks very well balanced and totally planted!

http://youtu.be/Eoq-ORJBmyg Yes, I know it is shaky! I was at 500mm free hand! :stoned:

I haven't read much, so I will tell you things 'as I saw them'.

1. Mercedes AMG. Wow - long runs straight out the box. Still looks epic, and clearly not being pushed to its max today by Nico. Be afraid people!

2. Ferrari. Vettel just looked totally planted in that thing. Super balance, and fast! I am impressed.

3. Red Bull. Danny looked very fast, and the 'new' Renault seemed to have some more punch, especially out of slow corners

4. Toro Rosso. Great job by Carlos, looked 'Red Bull' like; similarly the Renault engine upgrade was noticable

5. Williams. Low track running it seemed; can't really cast a view; I'd say 'so-so'

6. Sauber. Marcus did a good job, still looks evil on the brakes and balance in corners still 'scary' at times. Still, must feel much nicer than the Caterham!

7. McLaren. As expected Fernando tootled the MP4-30 around. Engine sounds nice, but far from being fully revved. A deeper growl (for sure...)

8. Lotus. I saw the plane come in to Jerez airport at around 4.15pm carrying it! I look forward to seeing it tomorrow.

....like I say, photos later - I am sure there are already zillions posted!
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Here we go again, except it's planted not glued.

Course it was, knowing that upgrades exist probably helped a little in creating that impression. Red Bull like? Hmm I wonder why, is it livery, is it a nose? Not really so it must the name then ;-)

There is definitely less turbo noise from the Mercedes engine that all the others. Is this to do with their turbo compressor arrangement? Or just running less boost today?

As they did 73 lap or so which is 3rd highest... I think this guy just didn't pay attention =)
Says - I can't cast a view and then does so....
Bizarre.

"planted car" could as well (and probably will) mean low-fuel run. Let's see which car is really planted when they fill it up at race day in Melbourne :)

One fan made an effort so we can compare few cars through same corners.
PS. Ferrari using engine maps to control car through corners???

Did Spain's high unemployment rate help fill the grandstands?

Looks like there are more people there than at a IndyCar race

Predicitons for today?

- Hamilton / Mercedes sets a time early on that blows Ferrari away.
- McLaren gets the engine running but struggles in other departments, lots of integration/packaging issues
- Ferrari starts to drop down the timesheets as others start to wind it up
- Lotus disappoints

-Hamilton has a brake failure and puts its in the wall, it then catches fire ending their test early.

Just watching a report from Ted, struck by just how un-loud the cars are. The sound is not as awful as depicted on TV, it's actually OK, in terms of tone, but the old vibration that you used to feel in your chest cavity seems to be gone for good. I remember V10s and V12s going past at that distance at Silverstone and there would have been no chance of hearing a word said by a journalist doing corner times.
