the engine sounds alot cleaner than during the whole last season. definetly progress from ferrari. sounds promising.

i'm loving how the engine sounds. S15T definitely feels like they have made a step forward in addressing last year issues. there is potential in terms of upgrade paths I believe. but i am cautiously optimistic because I would love to see how Kimi performs and whether there are drivability issues from today. hopefully we will see it on long stints.

here's a comparison between first day f14t and sf15t:


i timed raikkonen a whole 1.9sec slower and the car seemed harder to controll on the final S part.
also the engine on raikkonen's run sounds a little dirtier.

The turbo whistle on downshifts that the f14t had is definitely not there on the SF15t.
Evidence, I'd suggest, that they are using the exhaust gasses more efficiently to power the mguh in harvest.

Too early to be optimistic but the car looks better on the track, the engine sounds more powerfull and cleaner. And the car seems to be more constant on the corners. But it SO early!

Ferrari say they hope to be challenging for wins when the Mercs falter which is obviously as good as anyone can hope for.

Frankly, your observations are correct, and while it's early to draw conclusions, it is a sign that the team has taken previous woes seriously. Having a pretty stable car performing on this levels certainly means you have done something right. Whether that is going to be enough to reach your goals - time will tell.

to me, more important than speed (for ferrari this year) is that the car is good for the drivers. cause if the drivers have a good handling car on their hands they can take it to the max. last year the car was a mess for kimi and that totally showed in the results. now ferrari has two drivers with similar demands, so if the car doesn't fit kimi or seb, they're basicly loosing any potential the car may have.

Absolutely, the car should be this stable when they push hard, something we wont see until the last pre-season testing.

Yep, it seems that Raikonnen pretty much coasted through the S-part, while Vettel could use the throttle much more.
