Yep, looks like an improved situation for them. Look forward to seeing it in full flight today. Bit of catch up to do but to be expected. They are just where everyone was last year. Makes me think engine token ruling was a good thing.

Meanwhile Toro Rosso takes a bin liner for a tour around the circuit this morning after applying flow viz in the garage....oops:

The best one i found.
At times I hear some sort of grunt sound on off-throttle, especially when they are going through the chicane. Is it sound produced by engine or simply them hitting rumble strips?
The sound reminds me 2011 a bit. Quite rocking =)

Mclaren is known for quick response, but the last couple of seasons they have been wandering headless without a sense of direction. With PP now firmly taking the lead in development I could see them improve themselves quickly over time. During winter testing in 2011, we noticed that the Mclaren lacked pace and it was quite troublesome ahead of the Australian GP, but then they've emerged with a last minute diffuser, which was basically a copy of Red Bull's diffuser. They then suddenly became the second fastest car on the track and the performance was very promising.
That recovery was amazing, Mclaren was looking so bad and in a few days they prepared an almost new car which was really fast. I hope they can do it again.

Nothing, it's just uncommon to go for lightish fuel runs early in the season and early in the day but whatever, it's their program.

I've heard that Marko's first reaction yesterday was to give Kvyat Webber's wing before realising it's not possible anymore :-( .

...and Pirelli had say for this year, they estimate cars could be 3s faster than last year... for me, it's normal.

11 laps for Alonso with "normal" times. Good.

For god's sake - this is the first proper run of the new engine, obviously is not yet optimized

The 3second gap can be explained very simple. Last year it was the very first time the cars with the V6 hit the track and no team pushed the limits back then. And the last day at Jerez in 2014 was wet, that maybe robbed the teams to go faster than on day 3.
Dear FIA, if you read this, please pm me for a redesign of the Technical Regulations to avoid finger nose shapes for 2016! :-)
