Ferrari don't seem to be full speed either considering they have 20km/h slower speed trap than sauber.

No, they will also have some performance parts. Coming so it will be more like 8sec

Yeah, but there was something very dodgy about that post. No sources, no dates, no times, no nothing.

According to Craig Scarborough Mercedes is using the old floor and loads of other old W05 parts. In other words, this is just the beginning.

Would that still mean that in most ways the basis of the W06 is still a W05, since the lots of stuff internally is compatible with W05 parts. So the W06 is inspired of the W05 even though Costa said it's an entirely new car. It's inspired not evolved.

But I thought the car is completely new, right from the structure, not a evolution... According to Aldo Costa...
I suggest you spy. Some more for reliable info.

What would be the benefit of running so many W05 parts now? Surely the point of this testing period is to suss out their new car? Unless the design of these parts haven't changed?

Also 'performance parts are still to come', I presume this means in Barcelona/Melbourne?

Chassis wise and internal packaging wise it is completely new; however it's still running the old aero package. Old front wing, old rear wing, old diffuser,... .

Ever since Mercedes got back in F1, they never brought a new aero package to the first test, and usually they only introduced one at the very last test. What you are seeing is a completely new animal but in the previous pelt.

For one there is a huge overhead time to produce a new aero package. If they had to wait to had all the new parts finished, they would not be able test a new car.

Second, the old aerodynamics are a very good reference point. They have a full season of data about that. Running first the new chassis and engine with the old package allows the team to take smaller, but far more controllable steps into the unknown.

Third, it's a matter of not bringing your best ideas so early on to show to the world and most importantly to the competition. If they were able to see it now, there would be a chance they could copy it before the season starts.

Just a thought for those who constantly mention how little McLaren Honda have ran etc, Red Bull only ran 21 lap's in the whole jerez test last season and to my knowledge McLaren have ran over 70 Lap's so far!

But if the "old"wings and diffusor is optimal why would they change it? Is there a guarantee that the these parts will be changed? What if the New parts look exactly like the old parts?

There will be further optimalisations. You have to understand that with a modified chassis and front crash structure your airflow structures are changed, forcing you to reoptimize to the new situation. And teams always find small gains, year after year. They never truly are at the optimal point. If they were we'd be having a naturally evolved spec series.

There will be changes. If they are easy to spot or not is an entirely different question. But there will be changes.

But red bull didnt have a couple of days in abu dahbi in November to run the new engine like mclaren and honda did. Those 2 days should have meant the could be consistently running in Jerez

I suggest you see the difference between new parts and old parts, the new parts are still to come.

Well if what scarbs is saying is true, that around 90% of the completely new Merc is old parts. Then they might be 13 sec faster than the rest...
