Dear FIA, if you read this, please pm me for a redesign of the Technical Regulations to avoid finger nose shapes for 2016! :-)

They show a trend, and trend unfortunately is repeating.
lol
These top speeds say nothing

In 2014 other than Mercedes (the team) not going full tilt seems pretty accurate with what we saw during the season, Mercedes should've been in the gap between Williams and Mclaren other than that it's a good representation of what we saw over and over and over during the 2014 season.

Do you know gear ratios?
Aero package?
Testing objectives?

Yet here we are at the second test and you are purveyor of all things unknown to the rest of us.
How do you do it, Juzh?
And here comes the obligatory holier than thou foxhound comment.
Precedent being mercedes powered teams always being at the top last year, and the same thing is happening again.
Actual qualli speed trap from race weekend last year for RB was 320 kmh.
Gear ratios? Relevant how exactly with the turbo engines?   coming from you of all people, who I would have thought actually knows a thing or two about it (or not?)
Aero and testing objectives? More than likely top speeds would be achieved when teams are going for performance runs.

Dude Gear ratios are always important, if not, turbo f1 cars will have only 3 gears: Low, High & Reverse

Keep it calm guys. The next one going down personal on someone else will receive a warning. Before someone approaches me with "wheeh wheeh, he started it! wheeh!", the answer is "I'm ending it".

 Yes, but since F1 has 8 forward gears with a massive power band, they're almost irrelevant.

There's some truth in that. Williams already said last year it would be more advantageous to have just 6 forward gears, saving the weight of the 2 extra ones. But they are forced by regulation to have all 8 forwards in the gearbox, and all of them have a minimum weight.

I'm not going to say unimportant or irrelevant, but they do have too many gears in all honesty. Atleast until they can get more traction to handle the power band.

Quick question regarding gear ratios, aren't they still fixed from last year, at least for those teams that played their joker and changed them during the season?

Latest lap count with only 2.3 hours left for the day:
Verstappen 79
Vettel 67
Kvyat 62
Massa 55
Hamilton 52
Maldonado 50
Wehrlein 47
Ericsson 17
Button 12
Bottas 4

While everyone makes progress, McLaren Honda is busy farting in the garage. They seem to be in big trouble. Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull, all seem to be comfortably putting 50+ laps. We are midway into testing and MP4-30 continues to remain unreliable. The fact that Honda supplies engine only to McLaren is going to make it more difficult.

They go out for couple of laps -> identify a problem -> work on it for couple of hours -> go back again -> identify new problems -> .... This has become a viscous circle.

There's no joker change during season for 2015, but they can still nominate new ones before the start.

That 6 ratios can do what 8 will is no question with the current Turbos. Does not for 1 moment mean ratios are of no relevance to top speed... they are!
What is stupendous is that at a track like Barcelona, someone will look at the speed and not question Ratios, Aero, testing objectives, fuel loads... yanno, variables that we dunno. Or the fact its a high DF track..

I personally think its better to look at how quickly they get to 300kmh... as cars actually spend very little lap time at top speed.
