Looking at the car and the amount of laps they've done, I guess the poor guy is sat at home wondering what he's let himself in for. I really hope he'll be driving at Melbourne though. :(

I really hope they get some decent laps on the car soon.

A 12 lap stint for Lewis Hamilton on the medium tyres last time around and there was a clear drop off in times:

Out lap

1:24.946

1:25.192

1:26.040

1:25.997

1:26.274

1:26.063

1:26.480

1:27.171

1:36.348

1:27.632

I now understand the comments made by Rosberg about his time set on the last day of the 1st Barcelona test. Mercedes can do a 22 high or low 23 on the mediums I reckon. That 24.3 on medium wasn't impressive indeed.

I'm getting more depressed the more I watch..

The team I picked to support this year are having nothing but problems and have done almost no running and the flipping Mercs look set to be even more dominating than last season. Oh dear me, not good.

I guess that's from the 12 lap stint he did earlier.

Low track and ambient temp thats bound to happen. Proof that testing 2nd and 3rd test should be held in warmer conditions.

It has started to rain in Barcelona, I think that the morning activity is done.

Only 7 laps for Mclaren and the both Ron and Eric will speak in a few minutes. What a disaster of a week for Mclaren.

Impressive pace by Lewis. =D>

Correct. Infact, the visual effect would actually be less if more laps were made with that set. What you are seeing is the tyre blistering: the contact patch heats up sufficiently, but the core of the tyre does not or even cools back down. The end result is that the contact patch forms blisters. Due to camber, this happens on a line.

It often happens due low ambient temperatures, but can also happen due for example a fresh tarmaq surface: http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2014/11/r ... sao-paulo/

11:18 KARUN CHANDHOK has returned from the rain/drizzle/droplets to give us his thoughts on some of the cars he watched through Turns 7, 8 and 9.

“Turns 7 and 8 are good places to watch as the cars come though the dip. It’s nice to see a medium-speed corner and how the cars work through there.

“Grosjean kept locking the fronts, it looked like he was struggling to get brake balance right.

“When Sainz comes along, I don’t know if it’s conscious or not, but the way he turns the wheel reminds me of Fernando. He’s so aggressive. The car doesn’t look great, though, the rear end doesn’t look so stable, and traction and drive don’t look great either.

“I wandered up to Turn 9 as well, fast right-hander. The Mercedes looks like the perfect car. In Turns 7 and 9, it looks like it’s on rails. Lewis has so much confidence, he can do what he wants with it.

“Massa looked like he wasn’t trying, I think the car looks really easy to drive. The car didn’t move, it looked stable. I think Williams have a good base, to do have done that time [Massa’s 1m25.763s] on that run. It looked smooth to me, like watching Alain Prost!”

Would it lead to the tyre just disintegrating or would it improve?
