No word from that. All the laptimes suggest their are atleast running atleast a part of the power of the recovery systems.

EDIT: oh god, red flag due Button... . Car stopped at turn 7.

Pretty sure several other teams have done low fuel qually runs actually.
i'm pretty sure no other team has went out and did a one lap qualy run then went back into the pits..
you telling me the williams is 1.2 seconds slower than the mercedes based on todays times? i think not
Williams did that yesterday, and was 0.7 seconds slower.
i'm focused on today.... too many variables day to day as far as wind direction temperature and so on

lmao! You jinxed it turbo.

As for Mercedes, I'd say they are a few tenths faster than Willams. But typically Mercedes runs with a good amount of fuel, so I'd expect they can go a bit quicker.

How dare you! I'm an honest man.

Just you wait, I first have some seals to hide, but after I done that i'll give ya a whooping.

Anyway, I don't remember Mercedes ever being 1s ahead in qualifying last year. If I may dare to give naughty suggestions, my opinion is that they have a 3-5 tenths on the second fastest car, and it's not Williams I believe.

Where do you expect Sauber to be, three seconds behind? They had decent times in Jerez and their long runs here looked decent too. It's Barcelona, a track they know inside out and field should be tighter in 2015. Plus as always they should be closer to final specification than Merc at this stage, you can add tenths for that. What Chandhok says makes sense in a positive spin type of way.

Really, who'd you throw in 2nd, Ferrari or Red Bull? And I agree, I'm expecting them to take pole by half a second at the most.

Don't take my word for it, it's really a hunch and nothing more, but I think Red Bull yes, admittingly very closely followed by ferrari and williams.

That's the one car I haven't read any driving expressions about, yet. I was expecting the Lotus to be a bit better but still sounds like it is a handful to drive. I'm excited to see what Verstappen will be able to do in that Toro Rosso, driving impressions sound promising.

Re: 2015 Pre-season Testing

There seems to be a lot of talk, even in the media about cars like the Williams being only a few tenths slower than the Mercedes.

I'm not a Mercedes fan, but anybody who believes this gap is delusional.

The car will be at minimum 1 full second quicker than anything. It's not in Mercedes (as a business) interest to go and destroy everybody. Just like last year they managed the gap and only once went full blast for about 15 laps. When they did they were close to 2 seconds a lap faster than any other car.

If they go too fast it will cause an uproar. Much better to control it and have spare capacity.

If you compare the Williams and somebody like Chandhok saying it's about 4 tenths behind.... There will be that in the engine alone. Mercedes will save the best tolerance parts and also mapping for themselves. It's a business and it's what any serious business would do to ultimately make money through marketing.

They are making a mockery of everybody, more so anybody who believes they are anything but in a formula of their own.

Fair play to them. Just like red bull when they dominated; no matter how much I hate them.
