I hope that there is not such a big difference between Mercedes and Williams. I would say tha gap rounds 0,4-06 between, which a lot too but no depressing.

101 laps for McLaren, who could have predicted it? great work and a constant pace. Lets see what happens tomorrow!!

Someone from a rival team told me they didn't see Nico open the DRS on his quali runs... If his eyes didn't lie, that's even more worrying!

Excellent.

I saw nico did faster 1st and 3rd sectors on the next run too but didnt improve due to a slow second.

Loads more in reserve too ;) plus they have to turn the wick up yet!

Pretty sure several other teams have done low fuel qually runs actually.
i'm pretty sure no other team has went out and did a one lap qualy run then went back into the pits..
you telling me the williams is 1.2 seconds slower than the mercedes based on todays times? i think not
Williams did that yesterday, and was 0.7 seconds slower.
i'm focused on today.... too many variables day to day as far as wind direction temperature and so on
So you think all of a sudden Sauber is as fast as Williams??

I think the point about nasr doing a 1:24.0 is a good one and does indicate that a 1:22.7 is not necessarily an unbelievable time in and of itself.

Put it this way: sauber had a very bad car last year- couldn't even beat marussia in the constructors. Yes, they're likely to be a lot better and yes they're an experienced team. But a large part of their improvement is likely to come from the engine. Ferrari will also get this same improvement plus whatever they've made on the chassis side.

My point is that if a 1.2 gap to the sauber is their gap - and none of us know fuel levels but Mercedes' was on a quali style three lap run - you've got to assume Ferrari will be ahead of their customer team; surely at least half a second.

EDIT: oh god, red flag due Button... . Car stopped at turn 7.
The lap times actually suggest the MGU-H is not working correctly.
As JB was doing 1:26 ish and then a 1:32ish and back to 1:26ish. I doubt that was tyres in today's heat. Therefore because of the 2mj harvesting rule but 4mj deployment rule I would guess they're not using the MGU-H to supplement the MGU-K extra 2mj which they would do normally.

James Allen says the word around the paddock is that Mercedes is 0.8-1s faster than Ferrari and Williams, which are neck to neck.

David "Crofty" Croft has confirmed that the laptime set by Nico Rosberg on the soft tires was without DRS usage. So the saga continuous. I still think that Mercedes could do a 1:23.2 ( 2 seconds faster then last years poll) on medium set of tires with the usage of DRS.
Irvine:"If you don't have a good car you can't win it, unless you are Michael or Senna. Lots of guys won in Adrian Newey's cars, big deal. Adrian is the real genius out there, there is Senna, there is Michael and there is Newey. They were the three great talents."

Yup, not surprised. Another cake walk for Mercedes. Maybe we will see the perfect season?

I can't find enough reasons of why Mercedes would still be so ahead of his competitors. 2014 caught teams in "totally different" directions in terms of development. Totally different in the margins the regulations permit. A bigger gap is still the less logical panorama.
