Is it a good idea to move fast with exhaust blockage? :)

Seb and Kimi have totally different rear wing (different endplate, main plane, flap, nolder and monkey seat) (ph Sutton)

LAP 1:
- A couple of errors from seb is making it look bad but you can still see a general overall improvement over F14-T

LAP 2:
- Good overall balance inserting into the corners as Seb is able to place the wheels confidently where he wants
- Very good and smooth power delivery from the PU
- Greatly improved drivability out of slow speed corners due to better traction compared to last year
- Interesting straigthline top speed
- Maybe still laking a bit of downforce in medium-high speed situations

(Very bad image quality, not my fault as video is on youtube)

What a difference compared to this heap...

Also, much better quality of Seb pounding around. ;)

Interesting fact:

If we add all the best sector times of the Ferrari we could see it is maybe capable of a laptime of ~ 87.3 sec = 1:27.3 min
just a second slower than the merc.

Seb: S1 ~ 29.0 sec S2~23.5 sec
Kimi: S3 ~ 34.8 sec

You have to consider though that on pics of the Qualifying it clearly looks as if Kimi had more Rear Wing plus Monkey Seat which helped im in S3 but cost him in S1&2. Vive Versa for Seb.
So you can't simply combine their best sectors.

they match each other in the 1st and 2nd sectors

Very good point, looking at the onboard lap though the car sems to be more than a match for the williams though, their strightline is still a fair bit down though and definately running less wing. Good point is they finally seem to have gotten the hang of the front pushrod suspension. I seems benign over the bumps unlike last years car and the corner entry isnt quite as tentative. Didn't vettel mach Hamilton in S1 in one of the sessions if I am not mistaken?

I think this is much more suited for race thread but kimi said:

"We should have been in P3 but that is how it is. And probably we would have been one second behind Mercedes."

He thinks he lost 3 tenths in just one corner.

Uh Yes you are right. I didn't consider that they were running two different aero set-ups.
So Kimi did run a lager endplate and so on which would help him in S3.

I don't think that last year problem was the pull rod suspension, it looks like they tried to exploit something within the height of the chassis by sacrificing the suspension geometry.
I think that they raised the chassis as much as possible to generate more downforce but the resulting roll center of the car was too high with too much understeer at low speed. This was a key factor also in free practices where they were forced to run with low fuel to save front tires.
This year their geometry is quite similar to others ones.

Car still looks somewhat unrefined, so hopefully there's more to come - nose and sidepods just feel a bit beta-spec to me.

Clearly the PU is much improved, think Sauber has a good shot at points tomorrow.

Here another picture... maybe the damage occured during the first corner phase and then Kimi lost some pieces during the race... because in the picture you've posted the end plate is missing while in this picture it is still on, but the upper flap is missing....
