There is a delay for the new engine, that would be developed in collaboration with the specialists of AVL in Graz
In particular it has not yet passed all tests (it should be used at least for 5 gp)
Anyway, it doesn't have performance problems (it should bring at least 20 hp)

Ferrari confirms that new aero package is not the cause of their lagging behind to Mercedes in Barcelona but mechanical grip. It also mentions that they had no problems because of the new FIA's extending fuel-flow measure.. they run with the same specifications from the beginning of the season.

Thanks a lot!
I have to admit I'm positively surprised by Arrivabene's matter of fact style when it comes to the view on where they are. He seems to be focussing well on single identifed issues and not chasing shadows. Not covering up issues they are facing and not hyping their situation. Not trying to blame fate, no Drama. Simply focussed on open issues and work to be done. Good.
I start to believe that the improved shape of Ferrari compared to last season is not an accident.

Speaking of traction.
Do you think it would be possible to use brakes (fronts) and clever bbw systems to simulate a front differential like on the Benetton B199 but without the added weight of a true fft system?
And the rear brakes to help reduce wheelspin?

Wouldn't that be classes as abs and therefore illegal?

Quite possibly :)
I'm not really up to date with the new regs and thought that maybe with the new bbw teams were able to squeeze some tricks "concealed" as energy harvesting / recovery.

Ok.

Article 11.1.4 "Any change to, or modulation of, the brake system whilst the car is moving must be made by the driver's direct physical input or by the system referred to in Article 11.7, and may not be pre-set."

Article 11.7 "Rear brake control system :
The pressure in the rear braking circuit may be provided by a powered control system provided that :
a) The driver brake pedal is connected to a hydraulic master cylinder that generates a pressure source that can be applied to the rear braking circuit if the powered system is disabled.
b) The powered system is controlled by the control electronics described in Article 8.2."

Doesn't look like it's possible for the front brakes, but maybe for the rear ones there's a chance... still reading the regs.

WEll... Brake by wire as you know, is really changing the braking power by way of the KERS generator. The KERS unit is connected to the crankshaft and cannot discriminate between left or right wheel.

It can be used as an ABS just as much as you could use the throttle for it. (non-proportional throttle response is banned though). However I don't know the response time of the KERS unit to pulsating inputs. Not sure if it is as fast as an ABS unit.
