All year long Ferrari have been sucking eggs with the harder compound tires. That's going to be the major difference tomorrow that will allow Rosberg to easily get back into his usual and customary second place.

Confirms Mercedes are confident Lewis will not suffer with the same issues in the race tomorrow, but the really interesting part is that Lauda thinks they have only gained a tenth with the 7 tokens, and today showed Ferrari's genuine pace. Were the 7 tokens worth it if gave them a tenth only today? Absolutely. They are only making changes ready for their "miracle engine" next year, as they are limited on areas of the engine they are welcome to change. Supposedly the new unit uses a different fuel to the old one, so it looks like they are gonna be doing extreme development. Look forward to hearing more on what Mercedes hope to get from their 2016 unit.

If Nico's power unit survives the race tomorrow, he has 2 left for 7 races. Astonishing reliability.

Some "triple crown" pistons are in the works I hear... Each additional crown should give 20 more kWhrs worth of charge per lap... Not bad for a little old six pot eh?

That's exactly what I was thinking. However, I cannot help but also think that (Lauda will probably not admit it) that Mercedes has turned LH engine down as a safe guard.

Considering what happened to Nico's engine I do believe this is very likely. Of course I speculate - don't we all?

It all comes down to who gets to the first corner first. If either (or both) Ferrari gets ahead of Hamilton then he'll probably struggle to win I think. If he gets there first, he should have the pace to get ahead and stay ahead. Be interesting to see if Rosberg gets a clean start too. If not, he might have some trouble too. A good start from any of the grid can be several places gained by the time they get out of the first two corners.

Usually when the difference between Mercedes and Ferrari isn't over half a second in qualifying, the Ferrari tends to give them a hard time in the race. If either of them jumps Hamilton at the start I think it won't be a walk in the park, and if both get ahead Ferrari will win this race. I also predict Maldonado to have a strong race, I don't know why.

First of all, I'm very pleased to be around this place again. Some cracking debates on here. Spa was very disappointing and Monza has come at an apt time. I hope, we see an amazing race tomorrow regardless of the winner.

I see an enormous amount of speculation around here. I think, we'll be smart to just wait and see how many and how much these 'tokens' have shifted the balance. There are just some things I wanted to mention-

1) Mercedes has all year long kept something in the pocket. At least, Hamilton has. I don't know if he was running a conservative mode but if he was then it doesn't look great for next year as well. (in terms of competition)

I will say this though that Wolff and Hamilton looked a bit somber and worried even. Wolff has clearly mentioned that they're going to monitor the data and evaluate Hamilton's engine overnight. If they feel too much of a risk in terms of reliability, they might change the engine and take a penalty. Mind you, Hamilton would still probably start as the favorite. (Just) It's my personal opinion that Lauda likes to talk a lot and I don't ever take him seriously.

2) While Mercedes has been the class of the field, and I have no doubt they will develop this PU and chassis to the optimum, Ferrari have made a small step. It's not significant to bother Hamilton, but I think those red cars will pester Rosberg. I think, personally, Rosberg is a bit delusional and naive to say that he will get the Ferrari's tomorrow, while Hamilton is another matter. Such statements, are perhaps the reason why Rosberg is so far behind Hamilton. Unless, Rosberg leap frogs both Ferrari's off the line, or at least one, I'm convinced that at least one Ferrari will beat him. Rosberg isn't the best starter either. To be frank, Rosberg looks defeated and as much as I want to see a championship battle, it would be a travesty if Rosberg won it from Hamilton due to some weird act. Rosberg needs to 'shut up and drive,' to be blunt.

3) I hope we see a safe, exciting race tomorrow with some mixed weather conditions and a random element as well as a surprise podium. From a personal point of view, a Ferrari 1-2 led by Vettel would be sweet.

There is no concern with Hamilton's engine, at least Auto Mercedes und Sport say. I posted the article above. I've yet to see AMuS report anything incorrect regarding Mercedes, the two are very close.

Wasn't that straight after qualifying when they hadn't had chance to investigate? They were worried because the cause was unidentified at the time.
