THE MOST breath taking run down to turn 1 on the F1 calendar.
- it's effective but a bit awkward for F1 (slow), Suzuka is better. Track is fine (overtaking possible) but Russia showed different aspects decide if races are interesting. All the doom and gloom predictions and a very interesting one.

- again, pity about customers not getting engines which is the real crisis (not RB leaving). Williams vs Ferrari would be more interesting, recently Bottas could have challenged Vettel and perhaps KR crash wouldn't have happened, Ferrari should be even quicker - lack of practice mattered.
- the rest, who cares? Volkswagen I mean Mercedes ;-) took care of that. It's F1 and people worry about the least artificial part - track elevation after season like that?

It will be interesting if williams obstructs Ferrari here. It would put Vettel under a lot of pressure to stay in the fight.
I think Williams may in fact be second best at this track. Perez and Hulk also will factor into the fight with redbull and Ferrari.
For Sure!!

Williams and red bull yes, FI not so much. Unlike sochi there's actually some proper high speed turns and S3 will just kill perez and hulk's efforts.

This track isn't as aero heavy as it appears, most teams generate similar high speed downforce, where they differ greatly is how soon that downforce comes on, Sector one has the bulk of all the high speed stuff, mostly though it requires stability on turn in, which Mercedes seems to have more than everyone else. As the aero provides plenty of grip to put the power down out of the corners. Sector two is all power, all slow turns proceeded by power dependent events, going up the hill and down the long straight. Sector three is the slow to mid speed stuff, that triple apex right hander is essentially the same for everyone. Here putting down the power on corner exit is critical, a place the Ferrari and Red Bull excel at over the Mercedes.

Well, there have been a lot of tracks where Williams should have at least been on par with the Ferrari. To be honest, while Hamilton and Vettel have been doing whatever is possible in their respective cars, their competition is a bit underwhelming. Rosberg, Bottas, Raikkonen and Massa at times have been nowhere. Also, Williams on the pit wall always seem to be day dreaming.

At the moment, the drivers classification is a fair reflection of the state of affairs. The real fight is the one for runner up and with some luck, Vettel might just clinch it.

I think the only team doing worse is Sauber.

Hulk will perform well here I know both Force India will factor into the top 7. Well I hope they do anyhow.

This track is a real beauty.
I'm eager to see if Vettel or Ross can stop Hamilton if Ferrari are going to put up a fight they need to use their tokens and focus on winning the next races. I say Ferrari go all in from here on. I want to see a battle for the Championship and Ferrari can give this with Both its drivers attacking so that Vettel scores maximum points and beats or at least challenges Hamilton.

I hope Force India fights off Williams so that Ferrari can challenge Mercedes.

I was at the first two races and I remember when Hamilton in the McLaren chased down Vettel and passed him to take the victory. I love the Ss section. This track is such a huge improvement over the Indy track, there is no comparison. I also look for Honda to make a step improvement with their PU in Alonso's car. Maybe a points finish for him on merit?
I dont think so because Austin requires a powerful PU but I wasnt expecting points for team in Russia so we will see. It would be great to see a constant improvement for the team until the championship ends. At least to leave some hope for 2016.

Apart from Singapore, I still don't understand where this notion that Red Bull and Ferrari has better traction that Mercedes has come from.

I don't think Ferrari stand a chance this weekend against Mercedes. Track layout is in some way similair to Suzuka which high speed corners in S1 and a long straight later in the lap as well as some medium speed corners. The only reason Vettel was running close to Rosberg was because Rosberg ran wide at the start at Suzuka. Mercedes were several tenths quicker through the esses. I expect the same in Austin, but hopefully Rosberg can do more to fight Hamilton for the win.

Renault have offered Red Bull a "new and improved" engine for this one.

Autosport reporting ICE and Turbo upgrades.

Anyone think they will take the penalty and use it ?

I think if there is any chance of RedBull staying with Renault for 2016 then they need to bite the bullet and test the new PU in Texas.

Is it going to rain throughout the weekend? Accuweather suggests so...
