I am quite sure these holes where there from day 1 ...
Nopes. You can see photos of day 1 in this thread, they were not present on day 1.
Then they were present on day 2, probably before the overheating (pics with engineers cooling cooling those inlets)
They were on day 2 before lunch time for sure when the burn mark started to appear as well as the mechanics were blowing through them when the car was getting into the garage.

They had cut a hole in the engine cover yesterday:

Okay, this Marca site is not that reliable then. Thanks for the heads up.

Marca is reporting on their live stream that various solutions for cooling internally were tested yesterday and they might have found a solution for now.

This seems like it'll probably be an easy fix, they might have to make a bit more room around the exhaust and compromise their aero a little.

Three days with the same "burned" engine cover, now with longer runs. Doesn't seem as dire a problem some said it was.

Is it just the angle of the above pic, or is anyone else getting double diffuser vibes with where/how the floor and diffuser meet? Is that standard?

Car looks really nice. It seemed they pumped a lot of £££ in the aero part. Love that FW and RW!

Strange solution to tape that part.

they duct taped the halo also on day one. Likely an extra precaution?

I once posted the question as to wether how these slots in the floor are legal. There are no small cuts which would make the contour one homogenous line. So how it is legal?
My only thought is that they AREN'T legal today, but McLaren don't want to show other teams how to make them legal before Australia.
Everyone already knows how to make them legal, it's simply making a cut from the hole to the floors edge.
