Scuderia Ferrari SF71H

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Either that’s the old floor, or the new one is very similar. Keen to see more pictures.
I don't think they would put the new floor on the car for scrutineering. Tomorrow's free practice sessions is probably when we're gonna see it.

Who was the one who said that there would be a new floor? As I recall this is only a rumor. Is there a reliable source?

The main reason for this "suppoused new floor" is structural according to articles posted.
Not so much about changing the design of the slots... but let's see.

Also based on Ferrari recent behaviour, the normal thing would be for one car to have the new bits while the other doesn't on friday, so Raikkonen might be on old floor design while Vettel has the new.

It seems unreal to me that these are the true motivations of smoking. A few drops of oil can't make that cloud of smoke!
And the oil consumption of a whole race? It would be much higher than 600 gr/100Km.
And also if before this oil was burned in the engine giving more power, now that it is no longer burned, the Ferrari where he found the missing horses?
For me those are only pure speculations...

This belongs in Ferrari engine thread, but never the less, that smoke is mostly water vapor when the engine fires up. If they are using thermal expansion and tolerances to get some oil where FIA wouldn't want it - it's legal. They are using less than or equal to 0.6l of oil, otherwise they'd be disqualified.

To paraphrase Matrix: Only try to realise the truth - there is no side pod. This is insane.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Perfect Vanja, that's what I think, but the animation mentioned (Piola) talks about smoke due to oil burned, not steam.
Of course they burn <= 600 gr / 100 km of oil otherwise they would be disqualified.
A question: they are 0,6 kg or 0,6 l of oil that can be burned?

Small inlet below the Halo is still there. Maybe not only for high temp races?

It is 0.6 litres per 100 km.

The smoke you see when they turn on the engine, doesn't come out from the crash structure. It's from the exhaust. That is due to oil on the turbo. When the temperature raises, the seals expands and the smoke stop.

The cheapest sort of pride is national pride, every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud adopts, as a last resource, pride in the nation to which he belongs; thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.
