Team orders, are team orders, are team orders. If Vettel was so much faster he should have just passed Raikkonen surely?
Who said anything about Vettel being faster?
Then why the order for Raikkonen to let Vettel go?
Because Ferrari strategists produce 1 ideal strategy for their #1 driver and everything else must be compromised to facilitate a result for #1.

If Ferrari had brought Kimi in when he should have been brought in, Kimi and Hamilton would have been all over Vettel within the last 5 laps, such was the differential in pace of grippy Ultra tyres in the damp conditions.

When Ferrari failed to bring Kimi in, Hamilton effectively won the race; with or without the mistake from Vettel.

Leaving Kimi out was a desperate attempt to block the progress of Bottas and Hamilton for a couple of laps.

If you can read my post once again, you will find out why.
That’s the point. It’s team orders that you chose not to mention it but then jumped on Mercedes for team orders. That’s called being selective.

You admitted you dislike Hamilton. I would suggest it’s blinded you to the hypocrisy.
Point me to my comment where I wrote that. Please? But I can admit, I don't like hamboys.

Oh and I almost forgot, my original comment was 'Team orders at Merc'. I never said it was good or bad, yet some started crying about Ferrari's team orders. Thats the state of mind of some posters here.

Looking back at this thread it was somebody else. I do apologise.

It was good for Merc, that is why they are there. The team may be there for racing, but the brand are there for kudos.
If companies do not gain from it they will not fund it.
VB was happy for it, he gets a contract for next year.

It doesn't say anything about changing your mind after passing the bollard, and coming back onto the track tho.

Vettel panicked because Lewis was bearing down on him like a monster in the darkest night - 2+ seconds per lap!
From desperately pushing his broken car yesterday to standing on the top podium today. Pure champion stuff. Some can drive in the wet, some can't.

So what makes your comment better than those of yesterday. We expect more from you Restomaniac
To tell the truth I think both situations were pathetic. I’m not being hypocritical. I would have happily commented but I’m on holiday and have parked my backside at a pub with WIFI to watch the race.
It's not pathetic - it shows that they care. Sure, it might be a selfish care but at least it shows that they are motivated etc.

The stuff I find pathetic is the radio calls that sound like moans and are aimed at Charlie/the stewards in an attempt to get them to penalise another driver. All drivers do it as it's part of the game, but it's a part of the game that doesn't sit well with me.

Hail to the champion #44. That's exactly what he needed. It will be hard to stop him.

You chose to ignore the Ferrari team orders though which is convenient. That kind of points more to your state of mind than mine.

I try to be impartial. If a driver or team are out of order I call them on it.
I have in the past slated Mercedes and Ferrari for team orders.

Except Bottas did try to pass Hamilton but couldn't make it happen. Only after that attempt was he told to hold station so as not to jeopardize the double victory.

4d) Except in cases of force majeure (accepted as such by the Stewards), the crossing, in any direction, of the line separating the pit entry and the track by a car entering the pit lane is prohibited.
Arguably, from Hamilton's perspective, there could have been a good reason (e.g. safety related) for the team to tell him to stay out. The question then is; Is this something the team should be penalized for or the driver? They were the ones who gave him conflicting instructions. One could argue that the FIA could reprimand the driver, the team or both. Or a financial penalty. If Hamilton had done so by his own accord, then yes, the question would be why and go from there (e.g. was there justifiable cause). We can do this all day long. Arguably, there could also be the point that with the wet track, Hamilton lost traction, was too fast and got on the grass which prevented him from pitting and ended up back on the track again.

I'm not defending Hamilton or Mercedes here. They did what needed to be done. Simply arguing on how punishable the offense is.

For the record; I found Vettels grid penalty for impeding Sainz in Q2 absolutely outrageous too. It wasn't of consequence to anyone, let alone Sainz and IMO shouldn't have been penalized. A reprimand, fair enough, but not by grid-penalty. I think F1 can be over-regulated at times, much to the detriment of the sport.

Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II
