So where did Merc's pace came from? Insane..
Bottas is P4 and almost 7 tenths adrift, I think the question is how did Lewis do that, cant wait for the on-board replay wow.

It would have been better for Lewis that Seb was on second position at the start rather than Max, don`t you think?

Ferrari even slower than RB by quite a margin, I feel like they have gone wrong somewhere with the set up/tyres. Definitely the most surprising Qualifying this season!

Holy f****k 2018 cars and the hypers are just crazy! 1:36.015 is 3.4s faster than 2017. In fact, the pole lap time difference between 2018 and 2017 is even bigger than 2017 and 2016!!!

2016 1:42.584
2017 1:39.491 (-3.093 to 2016)
2018 1:36.015 ( -3.476 to 2017)

This is madness! Lewis did a HOLY-MOTHER-OF-GOD lap!

Ham, Ver and Vet tomorrow. Will definitely end in tears :(
If something crazy happens at the front it's either turn 1 or turn 7 elsewhere, turns 1 2 3 4 5 are known incident locations on the first lap for following traffic. Afterwards the race usually starts to settle down, unless people are battling which can cause a safety car. The fact there are different groups and these groups are so tight means that staying out of trouble will be just as important as being fast, this place punishes mistakes, but driving conservatively means you're slow. It'll definitely be interesting to see how the race unfolds as the track begins to change through the night, and how the tires degrade and who can adapt the best.

We have had conversations on here before about drivers being able/unable to drive beyond the car. THAT was driving beyond the car.

This is bananas. I don't think anyone envisaged a 1:36 let alone half a blond one from a 1:35.
Pole was over 5 seconds quicker than Williams. F.I.V.E. Seconds.

Awesome pace from VER, he's been behind RIC all weekend, and then to claim P2 over P6 really is something.

Tomorrows race should be fascinating given the mix up of the first 3 rows and the potential for a two stopper and SC.

That was one of those once in a lifetime laps, I can't wait to see the onboard. It probably looks so boring and mundane.

Hamilton had really good lap, no question, deserved pole. However it is not a true reflection of pace. Vettel's both laps were downright bad with lockups galore. He did get purple S1 but it went south from there on.
