Lewis Hamilton outpaced Max Verstappen to take pole position for the German Grand Prix. It ended up in a fairly straight forward affair for the Briton, as both Ferraris, who had been closest earlier in the weekend, suffered technical trouble.

Exactly. If Max's spin had caused damage he'd have been way back too. Sometimes you just need to have a bit of good fortune on your side. Today Max did and many others didn't.

Got to watch me this race again. Just some loose remarks:
- Ver - Great driving and 'fault recovery'
- Vet - Remarkable solid drive from Vettel. Kudos to that. He deserved this wholly!
- Torro Rosso, great solid drive today from both drivers.
- Str - Invisible but solid race result. He's always strong in wet conditions.
- Gasly, to eager, self inflicted damage. Pity
- Mercedes (Ham en Bot)...just run out of luck.
- LeClerc weakness revealed, he doesn't adapt his driving to the conditions. Every time a similar mistake at the same point.
- Magnussen....yep S-ck my Balls' did it again. When does Gunther end this nightmare?
- Renault - 'speaking is silver, silence is gold'. I'll shut up...
- Norris, Perez also run out of luck....
That is going to be the juiciest bit of silly season discussions, because frankly Kvyat has also made a very convincing argument this season.
