I’m just watching the replay and the time is stopped with 6’35 left on the clock with loads of time to do the normal checks and things that they normally have to rush due to the red flag. They then sit there looking at each other for 4’35.

There was no need whatsoever to wait until there is only 2’ left on the clock.

That's why a lot of series that do this use essentially drawing from a hat to determine the time you run.

As long as it’s open and transparent then that would solve it. It would make how green the track is a total lottery though. Would certainly mix the grid up though.

In the order of the q2 results. Problem solved.

That would make an anti climax of qualy though. as people like Hamilton Leclerc Vettel would go first, then you end up with Grosjean, Raikkonen, Kvyat going last with no chance of pole. The reverse of that could work though.

Yes there was, well, not to get out at 2 minutes left, but there was a good amount of gain with not being the first one on track.

Just remember, never play chicken with a F1 driver, they rather not qualify then give someone else an advantage.

Sainz should get banged for sure.

The question mark is over the conduct of Hulk and Stroll. I think both could argue that the roadblock they each were involved in was a result of Sainz speeding up, joining them and driving side-by-side with them.

Stroll was a road block in the chicane, he saw what Hulk was doing so went extremely slow through the chicane such that no one could pass him.

On the straight Sainz passed him and went alongside Hulk and together they became a road block. Nothing Sainz did turned Stroll into a roadblock nor caused Hulk to go through the run off as slow as possible then come back on track and continue to go as slow as possible.

Hulk set the speed on the approach to turn 1 as he was the first one out, before taking to the slip road. Stroll maintained that speed through the chicane and peeled off to one side, slowly but safely. Likewise, after taking to the slip road Hulk rejoined and stayed to one side; the same side he rejoined the track.

The issue is Sainz then drove alongside both of them and created a roadblock which impeded the progress of everyone behind.

Thats why it shouldn't be forbidden by rules or anything. This is part of the game.

Has it been confirmed which lap was under investigation? Was it a lap in Q2 or the Q3 lap where he appeared to run wide at parabolica?

One thing i never liked is the complete lack of transparency, they could easily make all the camera angles available in high res but they will never do that, so we're left with some blurry garbage and their word.

Why not set up dedicated camera when they know they’ll be encoring track limits and deleting qualifying times if “off track”

bottas q3 lap P3 - bottas is saying yellows cost him pole, which is true, as he takes insane speed into parabolica, probably highest I've seen. What he didn't say is that he forgot to open the DRS on the main straight, which also cost him pole he'll be kicking himself

What a laugh - some camera angles showed he was all 4 off...but its monza...and Ferrari...so you can have the benefit of the doubt!
