So what this is called "motorsports" for a reason not "athletics"
Crofty, who I would actually pay to have fired.
Totally agree

Yes, but especially true in F1 which is not an equal car championship. Doesnt mean we cannot analyze and draw conclusions ourselves.
It is meaningless to do that, especially is f1, you earn your drive and Lewis like many others before have earned their drive in a top team due to their performance in junior formulae or in previous cars. You cannot change that or second guess that, that will make no sense at all.
Respectfully disagree, car is such an dominant factor that excluding it from the achievement and making it like Lewis did some superhuman effort makes a mockery of actual great achievements in the sport. Like Kimi 2007, Lewis 2008, Schumi 2000 and perhaps 2003.
Where did anyone claim such a thing
If Verstappen has the unbeatable rocket ship in the future and becomes easy champion with Albon second I will say the same.
Who cares if you say or not  , Lewis is 6 times WDC, Schumacher is 7 times, Vettel is 4 times, Prost is 4 times and Senna is 3 times world drivers champions etc etc...that is all the record books say!

Not saying Hamilton didnt do a good job, but honestly feel that both Verstappen and Leclerc would have gotten the same result with that W10. The biggest differentiating factor was clearly their car advantage, as I tried to point out that even Bottas managed to secure P2 with ease. If that happens you know you got a dominating car above anything else.
66 out of the last 67 races have been points finishes for Hamilton. He won eight races not from pole this year.

If the other drivers keep crashing, spinning and accuring penalties or their teams screw their strategy or keep chopping and changing their drivers, then that's on them.

With your logic, the only way to win the WDC is with the fastest car as, by winning the WDC, you prove that your car is the fastest. That's true most of the time, but far from all of the time. The overall package (i.e. the entire team) matters more than any individual part of it.

No, there are years when the teams are pretty equal, cars also and it is clearly the driver pulling it through. Think of 2000, 2003, 2007, 2008

Clearly hitting a nerve, but yes, if you are a true motorsports fan you know to take context into equation. Anything else is just score board reporting.

Hamilton crushed his peers this season. He won from a position other than pole eight times this season. Eight! He's failed to score points in one race over the last 3+ years. How many times has he crashed into someone? Or taken a penalty for stupid act? He has maximised the points scoring capability of his team at pretty much every race. The only black mark on him this year is Germany. There is no other driver on the grid that can say that.

I mean talk about the chassis, that clearly stunk.
Did Ferrari get a new chassis in the last few races or something? I remember their chassis doing so well in Singapore and that circuit is pretty much all sector 3 Abu Dhabi. Coming into the new season, I'd be worried with such an inexplicable loss of overall performance. They don't have the same legs on the straights and now have an even larger gap in the twisty section. I'm sure it's nothing they won't be able to figure out over the winter break.
Singapore is bumpy, Yas Marina is silky smooth, not the same thing at all.

Mercedes had a stinker in Singapore 2015, locked the front row in Abu Dhabi.
Hamilton was third row in Singapore 2017, pole in Abu Dhabi.
In Singapore Q3 iirc Mercedes didn't bring their tyres into good temperature window, RB had problems with kerbs and their settings on simulator. So Mercedes started behind Ferrari but in that race Hamilton could easily win if he pits before Leclerc. Instead of that their strategists were a bit scared of traffic and then Ham sat longer until even Albon was ahead so they used Bottas to block Alex. What were in that race - super form of Ferrari or just not good moves for RB and Mercedes? Who knows now..

Correction: Mercedes crushed the opposition this year. See Bottas (average driver) his result

Why would they need to do that? any particular reason?

These kinds of comments are not wanted here. Please refrain from getting personal and try to stick to arguments and respect eachothers opinion. At the moment you are presenting your opinions as fact, while I clearly said that I DISAGREE. Lets leave it there as I am not in the mood to get into a fanwar after clearly hitting a nerve.
You seem to be dismissing/ignoring any facts that disagree with your opinion.

Is Russel the best driver in F1 because everyone else is in a faster car? Clearly not. Being in a quick car doesn't exclude the driver also being quick.
