Does anyone know what's the situation with marshals, recovery vehicles and so on this weekend? The way I understood, in Austria we had so many Safety Car periods (and not a single VSC one) because of a lack of staff, due to Covid restrictions - is it also the case in Silverstone?

It really can influence the race a lot if there are Safety Cars for every minor incident...

Mercedes advantage comes from the chassis all power units have converged at least last year.these articles says Ferrari had an edge of upto 0.7 tenth from pu and still didn't win championship https://www.planetf1.com/news/ferrari-e ... -mercedes/

And the irony is that because Ferrari had so much extra power - allegedly from not totally legal means - Mercedes went out and worked their socks off to find more power. Now Ferrari's engine has had its "loophole" closed off, Mercedes have been left with a power advantage again. It's rather funny, really. If only Ferrari had done the hard yards instead of the shortcut, where might they be today?

Yep, they worked their backsides off, so much so that that’s the alleged reason their engine chief has called it quits; because of the stress.

Hamilton kept his car ontrack that way he didn’t trigger the yellow flags.

Since when has a car facing the wrong way or stationary on track not triggered yellow flags?

Really rookie mistake by Hamilton but with no damage or any consecuence. Was he trying to force Bottas to slow down knowing his lap wasn't good? Similar to Bottas in Austria?

Ahh those little dirty tricks Mercedes drivers play...

What is the use for Lewis to do that in first ever lap of Q2? very well knowing he could ruin his tyre and miss Q3 altogether (which he was very close). And that too without even setting one timed lap in qualifying

Well, there is some smoke coming from one PU. doesn't that imply something? Maybe ferrari (and Honda) didn't loose power. maybe someone gain power. it's not like it would be first time they would resort to cheating by burning oil....

we all know(or should know) when engines produce smoke.
Is there any rule stating that the engine should not smoke?

But why are the cars much slower than 2019 in the speed traps? They lose 17-15-12 km/h. Head wind in the speed trap staight this year? more DF this year? power loss because of the recent technical directives?

It was windy yesterday (Silvetstone is pretty windy anyway) so that could be the reason for it.

But did he prevent Bottas from setting even better time?
I'm not really serious, but I have heard some many stupid theories(for example Bottas causing yellow flags in Austria), so I can suggest couple of my own.

It was first laps of Q2. To be blunt, anyone arguing that Hamilton spun on purpose to spoil Bottas' lap is either trolling or dumb.
