A decent few people in the paddock don't rate Mick. I think a F2 championship might do something towards improving his reputation.
Really? do you have any source ? or is it just your opinion?

Look at the right hand side of the photo where the tub narrows in front of the cockpit and the halo's front leg. There's a hole and what looks like a split. It would have been above the driver's knees.
That's where the xylon side impact protection bonds on.

The hole is on the top surface and the "crack" runs across the top and down the side.

My guess is that the tub buried in and as it was rotated round by the inertia, the tub cracked.

The tub isn't designed/tested for that type of loading/failure.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

There is a news clip here of what looks to be about .5ltr petrol 'going up', and it is probably straight pump grade not the witches brew used in F1.
I really can not see that as a full tank going up.

Believe it or not fuel doesn't burn all at once. Even if it spills it may pool in a confined are if not on an extremely flat surface, so it doesn't create huge fires instantly.

Looking again I think you're right. But the crack terminates at the xylon panel which looks to me like it might have saved his legs. The halo is designed for 125kN or something but the carbon underneath probably wont be without making it overly heavy.

It cant be a load case they've ever simulated, it wasn't overly fast but it snatched in the armco and violently twisted 180degrees. 53G is the sort of deceleration we normally see in much faster impacts.

And yes that's legal before you ask..
But why? And what's the rule for it?

The driver's salary cap question should be well put to rest after this.
I see no relevance whatsoever.

Joe Saward is just a jorno, it's just his opinion, he has nothing to back it up such as having worked or raced with Mick. I wouldn't even take it with a pinch of salt, it's a fairly meaningless view.

Haha this is a verbatim quote of what crofty said. One of the most legitimately stupid things I've heard him say (and it's a long list)

Mick Schumacher will be involved in the F2 final race also at Sakhir where he has a 14 point lead in the Championship standings. So that makes him unavailable as well.
So? It's not like the races run at the same time.

Depends if you rate Joe or not. I've been to a couple of his personal private pub evenings and I'd recommend it.

i searched google, more than 3 minutes, I couldn't find any where Joe Saward and the-race.com crew saying "A decent few people in the paddock don't rate Mick."
Looks like some isolated comments from nobody, nothing worthwhile to generalize a view.
And to be fair there are still people who don't rate Michael Schumacher or Senna or Alonso or Lewis et al as good, that doesn't mean the entire paddock thinks that way.
